solid ruby in the glass with light to medium body. earthy sous-bois gives way to blue and red fruit in the nose, with some floral and spicy accents coming in with time. it uncoils slowly in the mouth, with the earthy notes leading the bitter cherry fruit as this gains in intensity, accented by floral, herbal, and spicy touches and into a slightly saline finish. there is good acidity and tannic structure for this wine to round out more, even if it seems fairly approachable now due to its balance and smooth texture.
this vineyard is a cool site, and the warm year notwithstanding, the wine reflects that very well.

Domaine Bouchard (K&L Wine Merchant - Redwood City): Nose of fresh and youthful red berries, almost like the neon red fruits I get from a central coast Grenache (I guess Jolly Ranchers is the next closest thing if "neon" makes no sense). Flowers and grass, and a really hidden funk. That subtlety of the funk makes it really nice.
The palate had softly bitter red fruits, bitter minerals, and dried rotting tree bark on a forest floor.

2023 La Paulee Grand Tasting of 2020 Burgundy (Pier 60, New York): Dull red color. Herbaceous nose. Light to medium weight. Earthy with discretely sweet red fruit and excellent acidity. Light, flowing feel, saline and elegant. A notably cooler style in the context of the year.
