This is used by CMS for a typical Malbec example and retails around $30. Gave it a light 30 min decant. Med+ concentration ruby color with purple secondary tones and everyone’s favorite tell tale magenta pink rim (one of the only tells for this grape). Light staining of the tears. Just ripe quality of fruit like blackberry and cherry with tobacco, ground espresso, balsamic, and it’s quite floral too. Med+ body, med+ acid, med tannin and med alc (13.5)

Not bad! Poured a glass direct from bottle using Coravin pivot.
Needed some air to open up so would recommend a 30 min decant (at least). Nose was very shy and the alcohol was interfering, but eventually it unfurled to show blackberry of middling ripeness, cranberry, licorice root, and a bit of tar. Palate was better, quite vibrant and balanced, with satiny tannins that have a barely noticeable grip left. Alcohol well integrated. Flavours were mainly blackberry and graphite, with moderate length.
Will try again next week so see if this opens further.
EDIT: tried this after a week under Coravin pivot, and chilled down a bit more. Nose was much more open, showing a quite nice and harmonious black currant/underripe blackberry as well as black raspberry. Alcohol was much less prominent, and the coal dust more prominent. Palate was unchanged, but I got more of an herbal/leafy character, which added a pleasant bitterness to the fruit-driven palate. Much more enjoyable, if a bit simple, so give it a good decant.

Deep purple wine with medium-intensity aromas of sour cherry, nail polish, cassis, violet, and orange peel.
The palate is savory with minerals, soft black fruits, oak, raspberry, and balsamic. Medium finish with high acidity with some dry tannins. Not the typical punchy malbec, but more on the savory side. Enjoy this with some good red meat dishes.

Aiolos Tasting (Intercontinental Hotel): Very tight, reductive notes, some rubber notes, ripe to overripe strawberries, palate rather tight again but more elegant as an approach, more Burgundian in a way, cherry notes, currant notes, finesse

Ripe fruit entry nearly lush marred by green tobacco leaf leaving a bitter taste. It may be stems. Poor winemaking.
