3rd of 12, opened 30 minutes then splash decanted, more graceful and nuanced than previous bottles showing more raspberry with a hint of balsamic and China tea, lovely relaxed Rayas expression of fruit, as ever the pale colour belies the intensity and complexity of the palate, very much on the up, 12+ years. At least F+ (18).

My other contender for WOTN. This was just pure Rayas through and through. The nose gives it away. It's lovely and light and raspberry and tea leaf and more of the herbal but so compelling. A wine that always enchants me and this time was no different.

2nd of 12, opened an hour, perfect cork and level, as first bottle in May, attractive and nuanced, maybe more plum and less raspberry, nice balance and decent grip, last glass best, some upside, 10+ years.

1st of 12, decanted 45 minutes, perfect cork and level - usual pale ruby, leggy, brown rimmed (no prob with Rayas wines); macerated plums/raspberry, touch of balsamic, hint of garrigue, complex and classy; medium, long, very persistent, less concentrated, slightly edgy, sense of adolescence, palate consistent with nose, upside, 12+ years. F+ (18)......as yet 03 more impressive, but another super wine from the Rayas stable!

Tasted vis-a-vis the 2006, this is the weaker wine. The noise is much more discrete, as is the taste. While certainly a tell-tale Reynaud-wine, this lacks the core of sweet fruit and is more on the minerals, the herbs ... no signs of fatgue, but I don't see this getting better from here. #Bagnols-en-Forêt
