Splash decanted 5 hours. Dark purple. Medium to full body. Mouth filling almost unctuous. Prominent fruits (red/black) with notes of flowers (violets?) and cocoa. Complex nose. Slight heat from the alcohol but it all works well. Drinkable now with a long decant but this has a nice road ahead of it.

Vieille Julienne's 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Trois Sources is a deep ruby blend of 60% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Cinsault, with the remainder comprised of Counoise, Mourvèdre, Muscardin, Terret Noir, Vaccarèse, Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc, Clairette and Picardan. Floral and complex on the nose, it offers a bouquet of red and black bramble fruits that are accented with Provençal herbs, lavender, white pepper, licorice and Asian spices. Medium-to-full-bodied, lightly oaked, seamlessly alcoholic (despite being listed as 15%) and with lively acids, it delivers flavors mirroring the aromas, wrapped with powdery tannins. Solid on the mid-palate and lengthy on the finish, this is a classic-quality Châteauneuf that should provide plenty of pleasure over the next 10+ years. This particular bottle was decanted through a Vinturi aerator and serially tasted over the ensuing 3-4 hours. If you choose to pop the cork anytime soon, give it a couple of hours in carafe for maximal enjoyment. Drink now-2035.

Deep, dark reddish-purple color, almost opaque. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & strawberries with overtones of garrigue & floral notes, peppery & Provençal herbs, earth/dusty notes, spices, minerals & a slight hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, strawberries & plums with herbs, pepper, some spices, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing although it needs additional time to fully develop at which time it may rate even higher (95+). A blend of 60% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Cinsault & a myriad of various other allowable varieties.

Red berry compote with a blackberry underpin, sweet spice and black pepper. Medium plus intensity acidity, lashings of alcohol warmth, chalky tannins prove chewy, baked red fruits. Woof.

Decanted and then served with grilled flank steak and Lamb "lolypops."
Purple in the glass. On nose, garrigue/ rosemary/lavendar, raspberry and sweet cherry. Palate was similar and gained some complexity with airtime. Medium+ body, medium acidity, and tannins noticeable on the long finish. Really enoyed and would buy again. 92-93+ range. Still fruit primary but bottle was finished.
