  • 10th MW Symposium, Wiesbaden - Day 4: Alcohol 11.5%, dry 0.5 g/l residual sugar, 8.68 g/l acidity, 3.0 pH
Vineyard: The vineyard aspect is north east, on the southern side of the Watervale sub-appellation. Rainfall is 450 - 550 ml per year. 380 metres above sea level, resulting in a relatively large diurnal temperature range. The vine age is around 30 years.30+yo vines. Yield: 8.5 tonne per hectare hl/ha
Soil Type: The soil is red-brown krasnozem over limestone.
Harvest Notes: In the lead up to vintage 2022 we experienced relatively mild and unusually wet conditions throughout January which delayed veraison by around 2 weeks later than average. Into February, mild conditions prevailed for most of the month and then it warmed up over the last few days. The mild weather conditions continued into March with comfortably warm days and mild, cool nights along with minimal rainfall which resulted in near perfect ripening conditions with little to no disease pressure. Overall, our winemakers are reporting excellent quality from the vintage.
Vinification: Whole berry pressed free run portion only. Stainless steel fermentation with neutral yeast strain typically 14 days, straight into cold stabilization.
Maturation: Stainless steel tank, sterile filtration to bottle in June 2022.
    Months in bottle: 6

  • Real Review - Top Wineries of Australia (Ovolo, Wooloomooloo): Ooh, a little funky and slightly gamey, lime and green apple. On the palate it's a touch sharp with the lime and green apple notes, textured grip is a little clumsy. Hmm
