No errors and everything working together for this chardonnay at high altitude.
Color is a beautifully golden yellow, remarkably luminous.
The nose needs a couple of minutes to open up, with immediate reduction notes leaving spaces to two distinct layers that move one on top of each other: from one side we have stone fruit (white peach) over a bed of dried pineapple, and on the other side distinct iodine notes. The two distinct groups intersecate and mix together, without overpowering one another.
In the mouth the acidity is sharp, with a good body powered by medium alcol that opens up on the mouth. The drink is smooth, bold, with the iodine notes coming back from the mouth. Medium + persistency and salty, mineral aftertaste.
A splendid product testifying how etna can work really well with international varieties as well as local ones.

(100% Chardonnay von 20jährigen Reben die auf 850 bis 1000 Meter über Meer auf der Nordseite des Ätna gedeihen. 17 Monate im Zement und gebrauchten, grossen Fässern ausgebaut, 13% Alkohol) Mittleres Goldgelb. In der Nase mit Brennnessel, Zitronen, Apfel, Pfirsich und etwas Salbei. Der Gaumen ist saftig, kräftig und gut strukturiert, die reife Frucht wird von einer top Säure gekontert, druckvoll und doch sehr frisch endet der Wein im Abgang langanhaltend, trocken, salzig und mit Bittermandeln im Rückaroma. Super...everything that is great about a Sicilian white. Saline, yeasty, with a savory almost tannic finish.
