  • Very light red color. First nosing after about 30min of air was just classic Brunello! Red fruits, herbs, spice and licorice. The palate tho was mostly tart red fruits with tight chalky tannins. After 3 hours it was smoother with raspberry, thyme, licorice, pepper and a decent finish. At this point is was more of a 91-92 point wine but where this truly shone was on day 2. Flavors were much more rustic with some leather and fresh meat notes. This needs a lot of time before it's ready to drink. A very long decant if opened now or a good 5-10 years of aging for it to be ready to drink in my opinion.

  • Another great showing from this Domaine. Initially, upon PnP, was fresh and surprisingly smooth, although a bit light. After around 20 minutes in the glass, it started to tighten up and showed the grippy tannins I expected of a young Brunello like this. Then, 20 minutes later, it got smoother (although only a bit) bit and was showing characteristic coffee, chocolate and licorice notes. It continued to evolve over the next 1.5 hours. Over time more and more red (cherry) fruit character came to the fore, but no so much that you’d ever describe it as fruit-forward. No- this was a traditional, dusty, slightly smokey Brunello with all the classic notes. It was definitely too young- isn’t even approaching it’s drinking window in my opinion. But if you have time to watch it evolve over time in air, it’s definitely a very enjoyable drink today. Rating it 93 based on where it is today- but I’m confident this has a few more points in the tank over the years ahead.

  • Montalcino trip, wine tasting at Enoteca di Piazza. Light hint of brown and purple color, medium fruit nose. First Brunello taste dry dark fruits - cherries, currants, and into a medium earthy finish herbs, peppers, hint of spice, Medium linger. Well structured and the tannins and rhythm of an older wine. Head and shoulders above the rest.
