  • Opened at Le Soufflot in Meursault. P&P and enjoyed over lunch.

This was interesting - my first Jachées, eagerly awaited, and was very excited to try, especially on the recommendation of the somm team to pick this over the Paisseaux 2020, as they said that the cooler vintage would more accurately show Jean-Yve's style.

Incredible nose, as you'd expect. Explosively aromatic with red fruit and stems; natural but not funky at all and extremely clean. The palate was light and going down very easy - but what stopped this from creeping up higher was a green, bitter aftertaste that just took away some of the pleasure. This reminded me of Charles Lachaux's 2021s as well, perhaps a characteristic of the vintage and particular choices regarding vinification.

In summary, young, but definitely enjoyable. Perhaps not the best Jachées, but still delivering in many ways. Always a pleasure to try JYB's wines and thanks to M for the wonderful treat!
