1996 Burgundy Tasting (Holiday Inn - Skokie IL): Tasted double blind in 1996 Burgundy tasting. Red fruit with enough Asian five spice to make it clearly Vosne. Powerful, long and exciting start that me confident this was 1er Cru, but this softened and shortened with more time in glass. I rarely find Bizot to age this gracefully, so was very pleasantly surprised to see the actual wine when unveiled. 3+ hours of air before serving probably didn't help here, so I wouldn't give another bottle more than 30 minutes of air before serving.

Not bad, but not a complete wine. Some oriental spice, some red fruits, but lacks real Vosne generosity, but that's pretty much the way Bizot's Jachées have always come across to me.

A mineral-infused nose, iron, with sandalwood . This is ripe and luscious, with red cherry, earth, raspberry, and orange tea on a finish that is looong. There is still much acidity here, it is not clear how long the fruit will stand up to it, and at any rate, this is drinking very well right now.
