  • Zachys La Paulée "Warm-up" Dinner (Lafayette - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. From the domaine. Also incredibly bright with ripe red cherry and berry, showing both fresh and mature fruit and both sweet and savory spice. This has the impressive depth of the vintage with very elegant structure. Very long and elegant finish. A great Villages level wine.

  • It showed much better than the last bottle. The nose actually resembled leroy with spice, citrus, coffee beans potbourri and perfume. Palate was not as good as the nose. A bit lean. Nose 94 and palate 90. Drinking at peak.

  • PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Root” day): Pale bright ruby to the eyes. Even a little purplish on the rim.

Literally 3 different wines within first 3 pours: Upon first sniff a little shy and monolithic on nose (mostly purplish / bluish berry fruits, florals and delicate spices).

2nd glass with small amount time in glass opened up quite a lot - much more savoury, organic red berry fruits to complete the spectrum, earth, smoke.

3rd glass an even more “luxurious” bouquet emerged with riper black and red fruits. Some sous bois and animale notes start to emerge too.

Very much still “youthful” with bright acidity and pure silk on the volumetric tannins, very suave and good soft touch. Would want slightly more on flavours on palate to match the mesmerizing bouquet for this but I guess cellar age would help.

Very delicate wine indeed but just great balance overall though more secondary/tertiary flavours are still to come. Just impeccable quality for a village wine. 94 points to me at this stage.

30 mins upon opening: As always what’s amazing about Bizots are their ability to evolve within drinking period - Flavours started to match nose and became very enjoyable indeed! Very finely detailed especially on the fruits. Upgrade to 94-95 points.

3 hours upon opening: Clearly better integration, acidity and minerality and what’s amazing is that this somehow improved on structure as well (is that even possible?). Such finesse... Upgrade to 95 points.

  • moderate depth of color, red rim with some bricking. aromatically after being open a bit this wine had expansive smells of dark and red fruits, tons of exotic spices, flowers, new oak barrels spices... just beautiful. on the palate high acids, beautiful flesh on the mid palate, still some firmness in the tannins, moderate alcohol. balanced wine with great length, intensity, and complexity... lots of aromatic finesse and precisely defined aromas... doubt this bottle could have been better. i'd drink these up at this point... can't imagine this getting better

  • Cherry cola, prunes and meaty on the nose and palate. The fruit is already fading. The wine is disjointed.
