  • From a pristine bottle with a special "Chevaliers du Tastevin" label. This vintage is generally regarded as the worst in the last 25 years, so we had no expectations.

Medium dark brick, amber rim. At first, an undistinguished faint nose of old fruit and a weak palate with a bitter chemical taste, almost metallic note on the finish (rot? hail?). We laid it aside to see if it would improve (if not, down the drain). After three hours, miracle! A nice old burg has emerged, with a modest forest floor and faded flower nose, relatively hollow midpalate but good on the medium-short finish. The odd metallic note is gone. Another three hours later it's still going strong. Drink up.
