I loved this wine so much in the restaurant that I rushed out and bought some. But the first bottle from my own cellar didn't show as well as the one in the restaurant. The balance wasn't really there: the fruit was overly sappy, and the gravely earth component was too subtle. On the whole, the wine seemed dilute. This bottle would have been a fantastic find at $35, but it was rather disappointing for the $70 I paid.

Very much a new world pinot. Oregon, I would have guessed. Rich, dark red fruit, with nicely balanced earthiness that certainly took a back seat to the fruit. What a pleasant discovery. Go ahead and drink this right now, it's not getting any better.

Toffee and sap. Masculine in style. Much better than the last bottle.
