Decent but decadent. Is the richness too much for a Pinot?
Nose: rich red fruits, with a slight alcohol fug.
Palate: initial hit is of those red fruits again. Red cherries and strawberries to the fore. The richness intensifies to an almost strawberry conserve level, before the acidity and cranberries kick in to provide balance. Some nice Asian spice elements are also present from the nose to the eventual back palate
Really well made as you would expect from Farr. But at 14% it’s just a little bit too jammy for my palate. But YMMV.

Sophisticated, with a wonderful style of early-drinking. This may only have 3-4 years of bottle age, but is developing so nicely with an incredible raspberry nose and depth on the palate.
Farrside By Farr Pinot Noir is one of the wines created by Gary Farr, the founder of this Australian family estate. They are winemakers deeply influenced by their experiences in Burgundy, likely to be from the days spent as a youth in Domaine Dujac.
I love the nose and mouthfeel of wild strawberries and raspberries, enticing and aromatic roasted coffee notes, and just a hint of savouriness from the smoked meat notes. This wine always shows fresh on the mouth with a good level of acidity, and somehow this helps balance the sweetness. Masculine yet with a balanced elegance!
Gary Farr creates wines which he personally likes to drink, and I share in his palate as this is an excellent new world Pinot Noir. Farrside is named named after the vineyard of the same name, and is located on a northeast-facing slope. Limestone soil topped with black volcanic rocks is prevalent across the estate, with the first vines having been planted in 2001.
Gary Farr ages his Pinot Noir in French oak, with 18 months in barrels, of which 60% of them are made from new wood. This is a far higher percentage than any other wines, and I think it creates a really nice character of vanilla finish and sweetness.

Slightly less concentration than Tout Pres from by Farr, but a nice nose packed with wild strawberries, raspberries, roasted coffee and a small smoked meat note. Showing fresh in the mouth with a good acidity though the fruit impression is a bit sweet
Certainly clear resemblance to Dujac, though with an Australian twist

Powerful, tart nose. Sour plums with an extremely long racy finish and some new oak in the background.
