  • The wine seems initially advanced with tea and dark fruit with a muted nose. After 2 hours, the acidity and sweetness emerged with dark berry fruit, spice, pepper and velvets. The wine turns out to be fresher. Very good for its village level. More like prem cru. This bottle again proves how backward cathiard’s wine is. It certainly needs time. 90-91. My experience with this wine is very similar to Chaochao below.

  • Garnet with the slightest amber at the rims. Immediate nose is all umami goodness, animal and pheromones - mushrooms, leather, and your favorite pillow. Very unlike the Chambolle Musigny which I normally drink young and find to be feminine and elegant. This one is quite a ruddy masculine wine and is ripe, round and earthy on the palette. After 2.5 hours though, the wine finally opens up into a more Chambolle Musigny-like nose of raspberries, strawberries and tea leaves, but not before it goes through a short phase of giving out honeyed tea-like fragrance and some notes of dried dates and persimmons. A very interesting wine which I found most comforting and enjoyable, but more so on the nose than on the palette.

  • Nose - dark cherry, soy
Mouth - dark fruited, bold yet seemingly lacks elegance, tannic, strange wine

Cathiard is for me in top ten, clearly he have made brilliant wines through out the past 10 years, his Clos de l'Orme 06 is good but as great as it can be, it might be the vintage, many 06' are lovely to drink but does not have a lot of personality .. that said, it is very good bottle do drink now.

It would not be much better, better open an get the pleasure now!

  • Lovely soft nose that is representative of Chambolle, while the palate really speaks more to the 2006 vintage – a but rustic and earthy, good balance but just not a lot of material. Finishes with grace but not power. A perfectly nice Cathiard but far from their best.
