Sappy red berry fruit and a great floral bouquet with plenty of tertiary character. Little fine tannin remains. Beautiful, near weightless mouthfeel with moderate intensity. Just a lovely bottle of mature Burg.

From a very well stored bottle. Slow oxed for an hour pre drinking. Colour still surprisingly youthful. The deep nose was quite primary with rich dark red fruit and hints of earth, game and black tea. The palate was very harmonious - the richness more prevalent but no lack of freshness, and the earthy and meaty elements a bit more obvious. Still a bit of structure but largely resolved. Beautiful, elegant and very terroir-driven. No reason not to hold this for another 10 years at least based on this bottle. ****-****1/2

Medium garnet, touched by blood. Quite broad paler rim, just a touch of bricking. Lovely ethereal perfumed, nose - floral touches and rich, fecund earthiness. Caramelised ripe fruit. Mouth entry is full and creamy and yet has freshness too. Mid-palate is luscious with dark red fruit and great acidity. Fabulous fresh long finish. Really quite voluptuous. Super wine and my wine of the night.

(Maume Mazis-Chambertin) Medium, medium-plus colour. High tones over a creamy base - slowly evolves cream before finally a little ripe fruit peaks through. A quiet entry builds in the mouth. Round and with (for the first time) creamy fruit. This has super length and still some tannin to resolve - a little plump, but excellent.

A nice bottle of wine, albeit it seemed a bit tired to me, The fruit and vibrancy are in decline.

Tired. Drinking well but past its prime by 5 to 10 years. Enjoyable for well aged berg.
