A very bold and powerful wine. Cassis, blackberry, black cherries, chocolate, pencil shavings. Great drinking pleasure already now but I will open the next bottle in 10 years. Nice to see the aging potential of Kanonkop.

Dark Ruby color. Nutmet, fig and vanilla on the nose. Extremely soft. Beautiful black fruit and graphite, pencil shavings and leather. Gooseberry in the finish. Phenomenal!

Honeymoon in South Africa; 12/16/2008-12/23/2008 (Londolozi, Cape Town, Constantia, Somerset West, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschoek - South Africa): The 2004 was John Platter's Wine of the Year. This particular vintage was pretty good as well. Oaky on the nose, with pepper and a touch of mushroom, along with attractive and very clear varietal flavours of cassis, wet leaf and sous bois. Great sense of focus and structure on the palate, very masculine with cassis and savoury meat flavours dominant. Superb balance throughout until the long finish that was full of cassis and a touch of pepper. Excellent.

Now a mature cab. Fantastic. Oak and ensilage on the nose. Leather and cassis flav. Elegant tannin structure. Looong finnish. No need to air.
