When attempting to open the top half of the cork was tight but the bottom half crumbled however was confident the wine was fine and it was, once filtered into a decanted the wine was browning and had lost its dominate merlot texture, the nose is now missing any resemblance of fruit character and had a more alcoholic honey liqueur aroma and that flowed through to palate, no tannins with a chalky finish, if you have this in your cellar then get it out tomorrow and try and pair it with a rich chocolate pudding or fruit cheese board

PNP - cork broke in three pieces. This one seems to be a bit over the hill - palate is more muted. Color is leaning to brownish/red. The nose has mature fruit and a touch of leather. If you have these in your cellar time to drink up.

Still got some life, reports of it's demise are overblown. Though when I find the other bottle I will drink it! Still some nice fruit going on, tannins well integrated, very well put together.
