Weekly tasting group RWP #353; New World against France in every flight (@ RW): In the bouquet dark berries, toast and licorice. On the palate dark berries and toast as well, coconut, firm and good acidity and beautiful tannin. Full bodied and luxurious, fantastic wine with beautiful oak and a great length. 94 - 95

Weekly tasting group RWP #279: 5x a set of 3 wines. (@ RW): In the bouquet still primary red and dark berries, beautiful herbs and spices and a touch of sweetness. On the palate a luxurious and beautiful wine with juicy red and dark berries, some menthol, a touch of sweetness and beautiful acidity and tannin. A truly wonderful wine; very harmonious and with a great length.

NobleRottersSydney - Henschke (Alio's, Surry Hills): [14.5%, screwcap] {Geoffrey} This is youthful, with a big raisiny nose and a touch of rawness about it. Despite the warmth on the palate, there’s still a distinct mentholly, cool-climate aspect to this. I still find a rather gritty aspect to the texture, like so many Oz merlots (91% merlot with the balance cab-s). Medium-bodied, medium tannins; it’s dry and sits evenly across the palate, but somehow seems to add up to less than the sum of parts. Another 5 years in the cellar will help, but I don’t think it’ll ever be a great wine.
