Aerated with a Vinturi and decanted for two hours. Nose of blackberry, blueberry, milk chocolate, white pepper and baking spice. A soft, smooth black fruit core integrated with cocoa, spice and soft tannins on the palate. Leads to a long finish. Full bodied with a dense texture. Paired with corned beef and cabbage.
Big monster of a wine. Yet nicely balanced. But takes it right to the edge. Inky is definitely an accurate descriptor in every way. Thick mouthfeel, dark ripe fruit. Gamy. Etoh only 14.5%. Though it didn't taste hot, seemed a tiny touch heavy.
Dark n inky. Slow Oed for an hour plus. Big and still not OTT nose of blue n black fruit that evolved into a sweet meatiness that made me want to return to it over and over. Palate was Aldo big with rich blue fruits and still some good acidity and appreciable tannins that softened over several hours. This wine is still young and by tonight's showing has good years ahead. Hold or drink with some airtime. Wish I had more, glad I made Mike's list.
