I followed hoservins notes below and also vinturied and decanted for over an hour. Thought this would be too much wine for a Sunday Turkey dinner, but not so. Smooth dark fruit and rich and dense. Went esp. well with the dark leg meat. Drinking well right now and certainly has several good years left.
Aerated with a Vinturi and decanted for one hour. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, mocha, pepper and licorice. Blackberry jam, blueberry, licorice, milk chocolate, dried herbs and soft, fine tannins on the palate. Leads to a long, soft dry finish. Full bodied with a dense texture. Drinking well.
Dark, deep red in color with great extract to the extent that the glass is stained by the wine. Deep red and black fruit flavors that fill the mouth with fruit and underlying earth. Not spicy like some syrah but a great mouthful of fruit. Soft and mature without tanic edges, although there is enough acid to make the wine delightful and not overly sweet.
