Nose: rose, soap, musky, wet leaves, raspberry, spices Notes: with a signature Meo aroma of fresh rose and soap, the nose is pretty ready yet I feel that the palate is still quite strong and lacks harmony. In the past year I've had 01,04 and 06 Echezeaux from Meo and I feel the 2004 was most ready while the others were all quite similar - very aromatic but not well integrated. Unfortunately it has been concluded that more patience will be required in order to really enjoy this wine. Perhaps by 2030 this wine should perform much better and show more finesse and complexity in the palate. Unlike most 07s this seems to be made for the long haul. Drink: 2030+ Rating: 89

We so much enjoyed a similar bottle in last December. Unfortunately this second bottle was a huge disappointment. Only a 2007 and already too late, even much too late. The wine was flat, no longer any body. Quite sad

Allowed around 4 hours of slow-ox in bottle. Rose petals, sous bois and touch of mint. Good structure without any sign of leanness in some 2007. Should at it's peak now. A very fine Meo but nothing over-excited. Bouquet-wise, I prefer 07 Brulees and Boudots more than this. In terms of palate, this has a better grip and texture but probably because it's a magnum.

The return of JonnyG: Blind. Herbs, spice, iron, stalk, pretty autumn leaves and perfumed florals - really beguiling on the nose. The palate is both savoury and sweet, with excellent acidity. Lovely, pure and delicious.

most enjoyable Echezeaux. Elegant and deep, soft and spicy with elegant tanins.
