  • Opened to enjoy while we celebrated the life of our 22 year old cat. This is in a lovely spot, and has years of life left to go...but seemed to be in the perfect spot. Notes of earth, clove, and drying red fruits on the nose. On the palate flavor of cherry, strawberry, tomato leaf, and faint hints of mushroom amongst the fruit notes. Enjoy now - 2033+

  • This wine was kept at a 45 degree angle for 90+ days & decanted for sediment. This is just in such a lovely spot...I'm going to have a difficult time holding off on opening my remaining bottles. The structure is still evident, but this is just hitting that stage where everything about the wine is seamless. The nose has that beautiful earthiness, like the underbrush during a fall walk in Maine (or Oregon is probably more accurate), with some notes of mushroom faintly starting to come in as well. The palate is pure & bright with notes or red fruit and a faint hint of bricking that reminds you that this is not as young as the fruit might suggest. Like eating a handful of fresh & dried cherries together. I just love this wine, and am so grateful that Jim opened up the cellar to share this with folks so they could see how special these wines are with some time sideways. I will try to hold my two remaining bottles at least another 2 & 7 years...as I am 99.99% certain they will still only continue to improve with age.

  • Bottle 3 of 3 and I have to say that this still has a long, long life ahead by the judge of this bottle. A ruby core that is slowly starting to show some minor signs of bricking. PNP, decanted for sediment, served in a Conterno Sensory glass, & the remaining wine is in a decanter in the fridge to help keep it cool so it can warm up slowly in the glass. Most immediately there's this lovely scent of earth, a hint of rose, mushroom, & bright red fruits. This wine is so bright & alive with flavors of raspberry, perfectly ripe strawberries (like the one's I paid $10/berry for in a Market in Seoul), then clove, spice, with a hint of cinnamon lingering in & out throughout the finish. Man...this is such an epic wine. The finish stretches out, has a rich mid-palate, and a long, long finish. The cork...looks damn near perfect, with no saturation or seepage. If you find a bottle of this...buy it, or you'll be competing with me if I see it.

  • Two pinot noir bottles pulled out of our blinded pinot cases and decanted . One wine very dark ruby in colour - nose big dark raspberries but somewhat reduced with stemmy pepper palate that finished short - the green pepper frankly overwhelmed the tasting experience. Second wine light rouge colour with sweet cranberry nose and bright wild strawberries on the palate - morphing into a long bing cherry with a whiff of vanilla finish. The green pepper wine was the 2008 PGC Etzel and the red berry elixir was the 2011 Foxtrot Henricsson Reserve - the Henricsson was gone before 1/4 of the PGC was consumed.....
