Excellent wine, double blind to me; this was a ton better than the 10 Rhys horseshoe served alongside. Candied fruit, with eucalyptus and winter spice. Fully resolved structurally or close to it, this may even be a minute past peak, but it’s very good tonight. A crowd favorite.

Quite good and the red wine that stood out for most others at the tasting. Vibrant and youthful, with a strong core of strawberries. Showing some development with a little orange rind on the nose finish. Spicy vibrant palate, with just a hint of herbal notes (whole cluster?) with integrated structure. Lengthy finish with repeating spice, orange, and mineral notes. I think this may be at it's peak--but no hurry. Everything in balance and there's plenty of acidic structure to age on. (single blind this was clearly oregon given it's fruit profile)

Great depth of just ripe red fruit (strawberries and a mouthful of sour cherries) with plenty of mouth puckering acidity to back it as well. This demands time, attention, and most of all food to accompany it.
Depending on your preferences for PN, this may be in an awkward stage. The primary fruit is starting to recede a bit, but the tertiary flavours have yet to fully develop, they shyly poke through a little bit here and there. I’d probably wait a few years to check in on another bottle if you’re looking for more of that tertiary flavour profile, but drink up if you favour more fruit. There is no doubt that this is built to last and will be enjoyable for many more years to come.

Rust brown core with a 1/2 cm clear rim. A musty nose with red fruits, earth. On the palate this light to medium bodied, red cherries, earth.

Jim Anderson / PGC dinner - Etzel Block Vertical and Blind Tasting (New England): Also not very concentrated. Nice age effect but not that complex.
