Medium ruby. Intense nose. Extremely pleasing aromas, Cedary, chocolate, dried plum, spices. Medium body, medium acidity, very soft tannins, silky, intense aged flavours of plums, chocolate and spices. A little bit hollow in the mid palate. Finish long and coats the mouth with delicious chocolate and plums, though tannins are bit drying up. Very elegant and Excellent for the vintage and still drinking well. I would drink remaining bottles within 1 to 2yrs.

This is where I challenge you to detect the difference between a right bank and left bank wine. This was liquid pencil all the way. Showing cool hands and all that cold steel intertwined with night flowers and clay. The only thing that took me to Pomerol was the clay and as I started looking deep into it, I saw a silhouette of what was clearly a Merlot that has been crafted into this beautifully aged potion over the last 25 years. I would have guessed first growth Pauillac from 1998 or 2001. Very nice! Drink, its a beautiful 1997? WOW
From MAG. Beautiful Pomerol nose with blueberry, cake, vanilla and pronounced notes of truffles. Really nice and very popular at my table, brought this to a gala dinner. Medium bodied, polished tannins, they managed the meagre 1997 vintage really well here. No sign of dilution. Wonderful! 96+

Another great bottle of this. Some thought it was past peak, some thought it needed to age longer. For me, with a bit of bottle air it is perfectly in it's drinking window and could age longer. The cool vintage shows through and L'eglise almost never disappoints for me.
