Clearly a case for letting a wine breathe. Out of the bottle, good red color with caramel rim. Dusty rose and sour cherry nose with a touch of earth, on the palate thin but clean. Followed over 45 minutes and the last gulp was the best. The wine kept filling and rounding out, with more cherry flavors and this tangy tartness like cherry pie. Palate ended up medium weight, lovely balance, flowed over the tongue with dried rose, sour cherry, sweet herbs, and cedar box notes with a solid medium finish. Testify! That said, probably best to drink up.

Bright clear, ruby color with a slight tinge of orange at the edges. Limited nose belying the full fruit flavor. Delicious cherry, raspberry and blackberry notes. Well balanced tannins. Far exceeded expectations for a 31 year old cabernet. Probably won't improve but still delicious and emminently drinkable. Purchased same day from the Freemark Abbey winery library.

Dinner; 1/18/2015-1/19/2015 (The Palace, Mission, SF): Older nose with cherry fruit, slightly oxidized; palate is a bit thin and losing fruit but decent to drink. Past its prime. 82-86

A beautiful cabernet as it is supposed to be at this age. So drinkable, so pleasing.

Deep black-plum core to orange-amber rim. Very much alive showing plummy ripeness, firm tannins, sous bois and graphite minerality.
