By no means overripe considering the torrid vintage but fuller and more structure than usual for the VV cuvée. There is attractive fruit with a ripe raspberry tinge, very little poivron but enough not to belie its origin, earthy minerals, wet leather towards the finish and firm well covered tannins. Very good.

Notes of cherry and red fruit with slight vegetative character. Smooth and integrated. May have lost a bit of complexity but still an excellent Wine. Had it with stuffed whole quail and a bordelaise sauce; which worked well together.

Still kicking! Love where this is now, super fruit tempered by middle age, silky soft palate with abundant flavour. A little touch of wildness lingering but not a brett-a-saurus. One of the best buys I think I've ever made.

Moving into an elegant phase after years of rumbling thunder tannins. Perky considering the heatwave vintage with cranberry and redcurrant upfront underpinned by some rustic, gamey notes and a touch of woody-spice. The elegance is perhaps the most striking aspect and this is fully ready for drinking.

Last of three bottles purchased back in 2005 and clearly the best of the three. The wine has lost a bit of its stuffy character and displays much more like a Chinon should be. A bit peppery (not unsurprisingly considering it is dry at 12,5%) with fruit, some leather and good grip in the mouth. Lovely Chinon at its peak, though it will drink well for some years.
