  • Nose of perfume, raspberry and blackcurrant. Tastes like red fruit, bouillon, tobacco and black olive, singing together in perfect harmony right now. Exquisite balance. Evolving finish that ends on a complex sweet and savory note.

  • Popped and poured, enjoyed over 2.5 hours. This label is as classic as it gets and it represents the bottle’s contents perfectly. The nose is absolutely pure and squeaky clean with notes of blackcurrant, capsicum and smoke with a hint of bouillon. It’s just impeccable and very detailed. On the palate this is medium-bodied with perfect proportions. It is not thin - there is very good fruit here all the way - rather perfectly streamlined with no fat. It has brilliant acidity that provides great lift and appropriate tannins that grip just right. It is dry, bright and savory with attractive red-fruited profile. Not primary, obviously nowhere near tertiary notes yet. It comes off refreshing, uplifting even, and drinks very well. At first I felt like it was missing something as it does not have the animalistic side wines like Baudry’s Les Grézeaux and Porte Saint Jean possess. With some breathing it fortunately introduced the smoke and bouillon notes that definitely added to the whole and with grilled chicken it truly sang. I think it might well improve from here in the cellar but already now it’s just a great, most classic expression of Cabernet Franc and I certainly appreciate how different it is compared to Baudry’s wines.

  • Ruby color with slight translucence at the edges. Nose dark fruited with prominent tobacco, tomato leaf/stem (tomato greenery?) notes. Palate rich almost ripe fruit, herbal, nice acidity; seamless and silky. Very good with cassoulet. Enjoyable if not profound

  • Also green capsicum, celery, red berries and earth. But the tannins here don't have the same grip, less wild but also purer than the Baudry Les Grezeaux 2012
