Still a tannic beast, not sure if they added a lot of press wine to this as I’ve not had many Sangioveses this old that have still been so tannic - acidic yes, tannic no. Last bottle I had was 2 years ago and there was a lot more fruit. Whilst it is a complex and interesting wine, I’ve always wanted more of both but never really got it. Maybe it’s because of its age I wanted it to be better, it’s still really good.

Had forgotten about this one, now my last bottle. This is strikingly good coastal Tuscan wine. Love black cherry, leather, blood orange, and rusty nails. Great acid. Melty tannins. This is probably in decline but still a very fine bottle of wine that speaks (loudly) of place.

This reminded me of mature merlot. I enjoyed it and thought it was decent quality. The downside for me was that it had drying quite brutal tannin on the finish. Glad to have drunk but won’t be seeking out.

First check in with this in over 8 years (wow, how time flies). It seems to me that this wine is more or less the same, perhaps a bit more balsamic now, with more underbrush, mushrooms, and decaying leaves. This is still very fine and a ridiculous bargain for the quality. I think this is still on the plateau but don't see any reason to hang on to these. As I drink more the EtOH heat on the back end seems prominent and makes me think it is time to drink up.

Ready - not sure how much further upside to be had from holding but all in balance and good representation of morellino.
