  Winefield's pre-sale tasting auction 09/16/2018-For the lovers of old fashioned/classic Bordeaux. Yes, from colour to aftertaste the wine is a bit severe, but everything in in balance. After 20 years this wine cannot become better.

  It has a lot of life left in it and should possibly continue evolving. Very subtle orange in the rim. Consistent burnt tire notes with better balance, concentration of blackberries.

  Popped and poured (from magnum). Continues to impress. I have enjoyed the 96 on several occasions, and although a weaker vintage on paper, I actually found the 98 superior. Smooth Merlot dominated aged Bordeaux – nothing too fancy or complex – just a solid and reasonably priced wine. Drinking beautifully at the moment – nothing to be gained by waiting, but there’s no need to rush either.
