Beautifully balanced, gorgeous and weightless. Plenty of backbone to balance the dark plum fruit. The cork was perfect and the fill was undiminished - mid-neck! I purchased this wine on release for $9.95 in DC - tag is still on the bottle. Sometimes you are rewarded for keeping a wine ridiculously long time :-).

Perfectly stored, fill almost like new, amazing wine, brick edges but overall dark red, very complex nose with pure fruit, currants, pencil lead, cedar, not even a hint of oxidation, evolved and improved for 2 hours after opening, long finish, stunning at 42 years old

Outstanding wine. Tasted blind I would have pegged this as a much younger vintage. It just kept growing and evolving, with no letup in sight. The elegant bouquet exhibited a soaring array of cherries, black raspberries, tobacco, licorice, au jus, and smoke on a bed of earthy complexity. Medium bodied, perfectly balanced, with tremendous freshness, brightness, and intensity to the deep, savory, fruit-filled flavor profile. Long, layered, and sapid on the classy finish.

Interesting wine. Opaque, medium red, with a soft cloudy tinge. Initially better than at the end. Dark red fruit with mushrooms & molasses. Clearly declining but by no means 'dead'. A touch of acidity with no apparent tannins. Fascinating to taste, but not for keeping. This bottle's ullage was 1/2 way up the neck. Color was good. Probably as good as it gets. No regrets.

Cork was a disaster. Still has some fruit on the nose with aromas of dried cherry, mint, earth, spice and hint of currant. Flavors of dried cherry, mint, mushroom, blackberry and earth. Still hanging on after all these years.
