Dinner with friends - a spanish feast: On the nose - when first opened, a real earthiness, a funk even, maybe TCA? No that blows off - if it reminds me of anything it's the 2005 Jacky Truchout Bourg Rouge I was so lucky to taste last week. The comparison continues on the palate - dense, lots going on. After some time in the glass it really starts to pull itself together - a delicious, fully mature S Rhone, certainly more to my taste than a lot of chateauneufs I've drunk. A very civilised 13.5% ABV doubtless helped.

This was good, though perhaps not the best year for this wine. Very earthy, with some minerals, bacon and smoke. Altogether very pleasant, though I probably wouldn't buy this particular vintage again. Great producer in general, however.

Drinking pretty darn good for a $16 wine! Had with goose confit and sauteed chard - was the right amount of leather and pencil flavors, with a suprising juiciness that I don't remember from earlier years. Wish I had more of this - is drinking very well.

Nice fruit and dark purple color. Earthy finish. Really opened up after decanting for about 30 - 40 mins.
