Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Not the first time I've had an unexpected journey with a Dauvissat, but one of the most remarkarkable. Tasted side by side with Les Clos. Two shades darker-uh oh, looks advanced yet initial tide pool aromas so characteristic of the wine. Honeyed palate, fantastic acidity. Then the sherry notes crept in but only for a half hour. At the 2 hour mark, the color lightened, and the register changed to ciders yellow apple. Finally, a much greater sense of freshness and the most rockiness it showed all night. Appley fruit persisted to the end. Who knows what to make of this, but it is safe to say that this ain't dead and this bottle provided a wild ride.
