  • Seems shut down right now. If you drink, decant for at least two hours.

  • Very bright and lively for a CdP. All about red fruit and acidity. Bitter finish in a lasting and pleasing way. You could drink this on a summer afternoon.

  • This is the kind of CdP that I love to drink: classic, balanced with a strong sense of place.
Lovely nose with licorice, kirsch, violets, herbs and olives. A touch of leather. Good structure and more open that I thought it would be, great energy on the palate with no sign of heaviness. Palate matches the nose.
Overall a classic CdP and really well made in a difficult vintage. Probably won't age 30 years but I love it.

  • I've always liked Versino's basic Chateauneuf du Pape. It's a traditional wine, no frills. Here we have good, energetic red cherry fruit, pepper, garrigue and fine but firm tannins. Really enjoyable now, but there is enough weight to keep this going for a decade. Very good with grilled meat.
