Meo has always been producing some very stable and relatively noteworthy Pinots. This 2010 Clos de Vougeout was no exception. Drank this right after a 2014 DRC St. Vivant. The difference is noticeable, not in a good/bad way, but more like the difference in characteristics. The 2010 Meo CdV showed some power and structure with distinct tannins, while at the same time it revealed a good amount of earthy, chocolatey and berries nose. I enjoyed this balance.

A true Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot among many pretenders. And a truly great vintage. And, as others have noted, not ready. A beautiful CdV medium dark ruby center with inviting tawny edges and a nose of violets, deep forest berries, muscular backbone and moist wood. The first pour teased with a hints of a fuller array of blue and dark red berry, with that wonderful masculine CdV stature, but the rest of the bottle was a tad severe, suggesting after a double decant that tannins will prevail for another 2-3 years. A long- distance runner.

Side-by-side with the 2019. Similar to a bottle from a few months ago, and unlike many 2010s, this is fairly stern at the moment. The wine is showing some nice evolution with smoky and earthy notes emerging. Particularly next to the fleshy and open 2019, this is brooding and begging for more time to unfold. Certainly 2-3 points of upside from here with 3-5+ years.

Great potential, but still a baby. Hold for seven or eight more years at least!

tasted blind, guessed 2005 Vosne 1er
lifted and fresh on the nose, berry compotes, oak spice, flowers, pine forest, airy vanilla and caramel
structured and dense on the palate, a little tough, lots of tannin and acid, needs 10+ years, but this should be gorgeous
