  • from 375ml.

Very reticent nose at first pull but opens up with lemon curd, pineapple. Very mild clean lemon flavors on the palate with clean finish. Needs 3-5 yrs.

  • Having tasted this at the domaine in September (note below), it was interesting to get another try of this, this time without any hurry. It must be noted that I'm generally not a fan of the 2009 vintage and have found little good in the wines so far. Louis Michel's wines are made in steel and they are usually quite pure and tight when young and this wasn't an exception. Initially the citrusy flower aromatics were present again and it was pleasantly balanced on the palate (unlike most '09s). However, the big surprise came after forgetting this into the glass for an hour or so. When I came back to this wine it had reached a warm cellar temperature (16 Celcius) and breathed a lot. Even though we had already decanted this for about two hours I was amazed by the change in glass. It had turned into a VERY expressive blossoming field of flowers and fruits, just full of summer. Hence, I suggest serious decanting and avoiding drinking this too cold.

  • Beautiful aromatics, minerals, flowers, citrus and stone fruits. Balanced, elegant and delicate on the palate as well. Quite well constructed considering the vintage, which I'm not a fan of.

  • Low nose at first; not terribly expressive, entry is slightly flabby; nuance of hay, lemon and crunchy minerals; dense body for chablis, minerality comes out further after a few minutes along with a pure lemony note; medium plus finish. this is pretty four square, good Chablis. Well made, classic Chablis but lacks zip and doesn't particularly excite me though. 89-90
