  • Appearance: clear deep ruby with garnet hue at the rim
Nose: clean, medium intensity with aromas of minty, wet leaves, black olives, toast, cashew nuts, earthiness, blackcurrant, violet. It's fully developed.
Palate: dry, high acidity, medium plus tannins (powdery), high alcohol, medium plus body, medium flavour intensity. Still has a bit of fruits (blackcurrant, black plum) on the palate. The finish is medium.
Overall, it's a good wine. Drink now, not suitable for further ageing. Got it at AUD22. With this level of bottle ageing, it's a bargain and I would be more than happy to drink wines with this quality every day.

  • Opened this after a 2001 Canalicchio BdM and a 2009 Lilian Ladouys Bdx, and this was clearly a notch below both of those two wines. Very smooth on the palate but lacking depth and aromatics. Not much structure left either with entirely integrated tannins. An easy drinking wine that did not seem tired, but obviously also nothing to gain in holding any longer.

  • Absolute cracker, plenty of depth, strong dark berries, great mouthfeel. Drinking really well, certainly another year in it. Pity it's my only bottle!
