  • While we sacrificed a bottle this just three months ago, it was with another visit. Nothing different about the color. It continues to be “somewhere between maroon and ruby; not opaque.” But the flavor profile deepened and broadened, likely due to decanting. The nose offered rich cassis, plum, smoke, lavender, a touch of iodine, smoked meats, and coffee. Very much the same on the palate but deep and distinct flavors, with each note etched clearly and cleanly. The coffee on the finish goes forever. The silky mouthfeel is smooth and balanced. No shortness on the finish at all. Decanting this wine made all the difference. Just a skid of sediment. 13% alc. With duck confit in mushroom sauce. 09.30.23. Highly Recommended.

  • The color is a bit light … somewhere between maroon and ruby; not opaque. The nose and palate offer up cassis, blackberry, plum, smoke, smoked meats, rosemary, and iodine. The mouthfeel is full bodied. The smokiness of the grilled bison pairs quite well with the smokiness of the wine. The rosemary adds an interesting component that marries well with the dish as well. The heft of the mouthfeel is not “heavy” but deftly balanced with every other aspect of the wine. The finish is surprisingly somewhat short. Absolutely no sediment. 13% alc. With grilled bison sirloins wrapped in bacon; a tremendous pairing. 06.10.23. Recommended but leaning toward Highly Recommended.

  • Rich, deep colour. Aromas jump out of glass/decanter - rich, ripe redcurrants and raspberries. Intense fruit on palate coupled with smokey/toasty notes. Mature. To be drunk. Soft, fine tannins. Fresh acidity. Long finish.
