2011 Château La Dominique France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
90 points
Beautiful bouquet with cassis and good vanilla from the oak. Some bell peppers, but overall good juicy fruits, acidity and firm tannin and bitterness. Definitely an ok wine. Try around 2021 to see how it developed. 90+
Red
2011 Château Dassault France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
90 points
The bouquet is really locked. On the palate dark fruits, sweet spices and a lot of oak. Some menthol. The tannin id dry and sticky, but the wine has a good length. Try around 2020 to see how it evolved. Could be really nice by then.
Red
2011 Clos Fourtet France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
92 points
Difficult wine to judge in this stage. It is completely locked and reticent. There are a lot of dark fruits, tannin and bitterness. There is good oak. But this needs time. Will show more around 2020, but probably wise to wait at least until 2025. I score it anyway 92++?
Red
2011 Château Smith Haut Lafitte France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
90 points
In this stage very reticent. A lot of vanilla and lead pencil. Cassis. Bitterness. Good length. In this stage not really impressive, but that could completely change with 10+ years of ageing. For now 90+ and it would not surprise me if this will be a 93+ around 2023.

2011 Château Latour-Martillac France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
89 points
Juicy cassis and other dark fruits, lead pencil, vanilla, firm tannin and a lot of bitterness in the finish. There is some elegance. Try again around 2018-2020. 89+
Red
2011 Château Haut-Bailly France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
93 points
Very classical claret with cassis, black fruits, bell peppers, lead pencil, smoke, good acidity and bitterness and very firm tannin. The wine is completely locked now and probably needs at least a decade. Do not start drinking before 2023. One of the best 2011 Bdx wines I tasted so far. 92-93++.
Red
2011 Château de France France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
88 points
One of the most open wines of this tasting. Juicy red and black fruits, sweet spices, vanilla, lead pencil, some bell pepper, well integrated oak. Good acidity, friendly tannin and bitterness. A very juicy and elegant wine. Probably nice from 2018 onwards.
Red
2011 Château de Fieuzal France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
89 points
Beautiful bouquet, a bit rustic, smoke, lead pencil and cedar. Same on the palate. Mainly dark, but also some red fruits, good acidity and bitterness and round tannin. Good length. A very pleasant wine already. Probably best between 2018 and 2024. 89 for now.
Red
2011 Domaine de Chevalier France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
91 points
Beautiful and exclusive bouquet with smoke, espresso, cedar and dark as well as red forest fruits. Same on the palate. Very round juice with good acidity and friendly tannin. Relatively open already. I guess this will offer nice drinking starting 2020 and probably for a decade after that. 90 – 91+

2011 Château Carbonnieux France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
flawed
Corked. This is always sad…. Already half a bottle empty at a professional tasting and the producer did not taste the wine before pouring the it. And he agreed the wine was corked… What to think about the "professionals"….?...
Red
2011 Château Carbonnieux France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
86 points
See previous note. The second bottle was ok. Red and dark forest fruits in both the bouquet and on the palate. Ok acidity and drying tannin in the finish. Not extremely concentrated. An ok wine, but one of the least impressive ones in this tasting. Would like to try again around 2017 or 18. 86 for now.
Red
2011 Château Rahoul France, Bordeaux, Graves
86 points
Fairly light and elegant Claret with red fruits, vanilla and other sweet spices. Ok acidity, bitterness and tannin. 86 for now. Would like to try again around 2017. Maybe it adds a point. Not for the long run, so the 2040 in CT is probably a bit over-enthusiastic.
Red
2011 Château de Chantegrive Graves France, Bordeaux, Graves
88 points
Perfumed bouquet with good toast and smoke. (According to the producer 12 months in medium toasted new barrels.) Same on the palate. Dark forest fruits, some licorice, sweet spices and some chocolate. Ok acidity, tannin and bitterness. I like it already and this will probably even be better around 2018 - 2020+ Good qpr! 87 - 88 for now.
Red
2011 Château Kirwan France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
88 points
Elegant and perfumed bouquet with vanilla, cassis and other forest fruits. Same on the palate; juicy fruits, good acidity and supple and round tannin. A pleasant touch of sweetness and a good length. Would like to try again around 2019 or 2020. 87-88 for now.
Red
2011 Château Lascombes France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
93 points
Much more concentrated than the Kirwan I tasted just before this wine. Dark fruits, beautiful oak, vanilla, lead pencil, good acidity. round and powerful tannin. Good length. One of the better and most promising wines I tasted of the 2011 vintage so far. Try again between 2020 and 2023 and it can probably last at least until 2030. 93+ for now.
Red
2011 Château d'Angludet France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
87 points
Dark and red forest fruits in the bouquet as well as on the palate. Some metal. Oak. Juicy fruits. Ok acidity and friendly, round tannin. A really nice and juicy wine. Early maturity probably around 2018, fully mature around 2024. The 2040 in CT as the end of the drinking window….. well…. I wonder to say the least. For now 87+
Red
2011 Château La Lagune France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
88 points
Although La Lagune belongs to one of my standards, this vintage seems to disappoint a bit at least in this stage. Although slightly perfumed, the bouquet is locked. Even more so on the palate. Green bell pepper. There is cassis and good oak, but the bitterness in the finish is not really pleasant. How to score this wine? I don't really know. 88 with the benefit of the doubt for now. Really would like to taste this wine again around 2020 to see what has happened.
Red
2011 Château Coufran France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
87 points
The bouquet is still reticent. On the palate the wine is très Bdx. A lot of cassis, also red fruits, a lot of vanilla and some smoke. Good acidity and bitterness and round, but firm tannin. Not really great, but definitely an ok wine. Start drinking in 2017 and it will last possibly until a decade after that. Hope to taste again around 2019 to see what happened.
Red
2011 Château du Tertre France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
89 points
Overall this is a très Margaux wine with beautiful oak and a lot of finesse. The bouquet is still quite reticent. On the palate beautiful and elegant oak, cassis, dark fruits ok acidity, tannin and bitterness. Not extremely concentrated, but a very pleasant and friendly wine. Early maturity probably around 2018 and fully mature around 2023 – 2025. Nice and elegant wine.

2011 Château Giscours France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
91 points
In the bouquet red and dark forest fruits and beautiful oak. Same on the palate. Juicy fruits with a beautiful balance between acidity and a bit of pleasant sweetness. Good body and round tannin. Refined glass of wine with a good length. Early maturity between 2020 an 2022. 91+ for now and maybe a bit more in a decade from now.
Red
2011 Château Marquis de Terme France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
89 points
Perfumed bouquet with cassis and beautiful oak. On the palate good dark fruit juice, cassis, some good oak and sweetness, good acidity and tannin. Not one of the greatest, but certainly a very good 2011 Bordeaux which is elegant and has tannin with a good bite. Do not drink before 2020 and it can probably last until 2030+. 89++ for now.
Red
2011 Château Prieuré-Lichine France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
92 points
Beautiful bouquet with luxurious oak and good cassis. On the palate also a complex, luxurious wine with juicy dark fruits, finesse, a touch of sweetness and beautiful round tannin. Really good wine. Drink between 2020 and 2030.
Red
2011 Château Branaire-Ducru France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
91 points
The notes here contradict each other, so I'll add mine as well ;-). I do not think this is a bad wine and I do not think this wine should be drunk young. There is cassis and other dark forest fruit in the nose. Oak and espresso as well. On the palate dark berry fruits, lead pencil, sweet spices, bell pepper, good oak and a firm dose of sticky and drying tannin, but the wine is also juicy. Wines like this need 12 years to open up. So try in 2023 and you will have a nice surprise. Will last at least until 2028. 90 - 91+ for now.

2011 Château Lagrange (St. Julien) France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
90 points
Dark forest fruits and good oak in the bouquet. Same on the palate. Juicy fruits. Good acidity and a pleasant touch of sweetness. Good finish. This wine was still/already approachable, but has a good future as well. 90+ for now.
Red
2011 Château Langoa Barton France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
92 points
Smoke, red and dark fruits in the bouquet. On the palate cassis and other dark fruits, sweet spices, nicely toasted oak, good acidity and round tannin. Very well balanced. The oak still has to integrate a bit more, but I am sure this wine will deliver a luxurious experience around 2023 – 2025 and later. 91 – 92++
Red
2011 Château Léoville Barton France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
93 points
Very luxurious bouquet, mainly because of the exclusive and well toasted oak. Dark fruits as well. On the palate the same luxury, good cassis, lead pencil, good concentration, acidity and tannin and a great length. Belongs to my favorites of the vintage. Early maturity probably around 2022 and will drink well at least for a decade after that. 93+

2011 Château Léoville Poyferré France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
94 points
Extremely luxurious bouquet with cedar, smoke, cassis, lead pencil and exclusive oak. Same exclusive experience on the palate, beautiful juicy dark fruits, good acidity, round tannin, finesse and a great concentration. This is by far the best 2011 I tasted up to now. Modern made and already a great beauty. Definitely a great future as well. If you own a case it might be nice to taste a bottle in this stage. Don’t know if this wine will close down. Around 2025 it will definitely be a feast. 94! for now.

2011 Château Lafon-Rochet France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
89 points
This is a très Bdx wine; good cassis, dark fruits, bell pepper, lead pencil, creamy and round and good tannin. Still approachable. Try again around 2021 to see how much future it has. It could score higher by then.
Red
2011 Château Phélan Ségur France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
89 points
Dark forest fruits and good vanilla in the bouquet. On the palate a lot of juicy cassis and sticky tannin. Also a touch of sweetness. Give this wine at least 10 years to show what it's worth. So around 2021. For now 89.
Red
2011 Château Franc-Mayne France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
87 points
In this stage the wine is a bit green with green bell pepper, red and dark fruits, ok acidity and tannin and a touch of sweetness. I did not make more notes, so not really outstanding from the crowd, but a correct wine. 87 for now. Maybe it will improve with some ageing. Try again around 2018.
Red
2011 Château Gazin Pomerol France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
89 points
Beautiful bouquet with red fruits and good oak. On the palate a bit reticent, green and herbaceous. Ok acidity and tannin. Ok wine, but for Gazin I was not really impressed. Would like to try again around 2020. 89 for now.

2011 Château La Croix de Gay France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
88 points
Fairly elegant and round. Juicy red and dark fruits. Good oak an a bit of sticky tannin. Ok length and an ok wine. Not sure about the potential, but around 2018 this wine will score the same or higher.
Red
2011 Château La Conseillante France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
92 points
Creamy bouquet with some smoke and luxurious oak. On the palate creamy as well. Good red and dark fruits, a nice balance between acidity and sweetness, round tannin and a lot of luxurious oak that still has to integrate. Try around 2022 – 2024 to see what has happened.
Red
2011 Château Villemaurine France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
89 points
The bouquet is reticent and a bit herbaceous. On the palate juicy red and dark berry fruits, some chocolate, bell pepper, herbaceous, ok acidity and slightly sticky tannin. Well used oak. Give it some time; so try again around 2020 - 2022. For now 88 - 90, so I score it 89.
Red
2011 Château Clinet France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
94 points
This is another star of the vintage! Exclusive and very tempting bouquet. On the palate creamy and beautifully round. Red as well as dark berry fruits, round and juicy acidity and tannin, a touch of smoke. Very well used and already integrated oak. A really lovely wine already. A beauty already and around 2024 probably even more complex and in the beginning of its maturity stage. Great wine!
Red
2011 Château Troplong Mondot France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
93 points
Tasted after the Clinet - Pomerol, this is again a beautiful and luxurious wine. In the bouquet beautiful dark fruits, cedar, smoke and beautiful oak. On the palate red and dark berry fruits, chocolate, smoke and beautiful oak, a good balance between sweetness and acidity and beautiful, round tannin. Although the label says 14.5% abv the alcohol shows a bit with some heat in the finish. But for the rest a real beauty! 93 for now. Possibly even nicer around 2023.
Red
2011 Château La Tour Figeac France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
90 points
I just see Jeff Leve's note about the 14.4% abv. Well, the label says 13.5%, but labels are not always correct because of e.g. tax reasons. My note: A beautiful and luxurious bouquet with red and dark fruits and good oak. On the palate already very approachable and elegant. Red fruits, some black forest fruits as well, good acidity, round tannin and a pleasant touch of sweetness. Already extremely pleasant and open. A good future as well. Possibly this is a wine which is already nice around 2018 and also a beauty around 2025+. Time will tell. 90+ for now.
Red
2011 Château Soutard France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
90 points
Beautiful bouquet with sweet ripe fruits. On the palate also ripe red and black forest fruits, some green bell pepper, good acidity and tannin. A light dose oak good oak. Good length. 2020 will be a good moment to try your first bottle. 2023 even better and around 2025 this will probably have reached full maturity. Time will tell… 89 - 90+
Red
2011 Château Larmande France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
88 points
Juicy red and dark fruits, some bell peppers ok acidity and tannin. Already approachable and beautiful wine with a good length, but not belonging to the best wines of the vintage. 88 for now. Try in 2018 or later.
Red
2011 Château Larcis Ducasse France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
88 points
Herbaceous bouquet with some sweet spices and vanilla. On the palate red fruits, green bell pepper, good acidity tannin and length, but not one of my favorites of the tasting. Try in 2018 or later. 88 for now.
Red
2011 Château Berliquet France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
89 points
Beautiful bouquet with luxurious oak. On the palate a lot of red and dark forest fruits. A lot of sweet spices as well. The tannin has a very firm bite. Overall a beautiful wine which lacks some refinement in this stage. 89 for now, but around 2020 or later this might be a bit higher.

Beautiful bouquet with smoke and red and dark fruits. On the palate nice ripe berry fruits, some lead pencil and licorice as well. Smoke again. Also some bell pepper and a bit herbaceous. Good length. 14.5% abv. which is higher than average, but not disturbing. Belongs to the better wines of the vintage. Try not before 2019.
