Initially very wound up and red fruited and slightly muted; a couple days later and this is in a very nice spot, darker fruit, more generous texturally, plums, spice, sour cherry, juicy and lithe, herbs, a little Tuscan earth, vibrant fruit, and a kiss of oak; very nice.

From 375; deeper color suggests some maderization, nose initially shows oxidative character reminiscent of Sherry, golden apple, pear, cleans up with a little air, leesy, lacks some focus, I guess there is some mineral in there, fruit and acids along with oxidative character make this harder to decipher; moral of the story is to drink your 375s much sooner than 750s; a bit disappointing though not a large quantity to choke down- this is why I buy mags- much more forgiving.

Semitrans reddish violet, darker than I’d expect for somewhat entry level Mondeuse; nose doesn’t lead with black pepper but rather wild plum and raspberries, a very Rhone feel to this showing more warmth than I expect out of Savoie, a touch of white pepper on the end helps but this is a little nondescript for a unique grape like Mondeuse, am I pouring it out- no but I will give this a middle of the road B.

Light yellow green; nose suggests salt, pear skin, green fruit, underripe stone fruits, peach and apricot, leaner, Germanic styling, some waxiness, focused but not special, simpler on the palate, no real development into day 2; solid quaffer but not the next level was hoping for.

Wow, this was a really delicious and interesting wine. Thanks Carl. Lots of great black pepper, herbal notes, plums and mix of dark fruit with great acid; juicy and delicious with an awesome QPR.

Wow, my first experience with this producer and it’s a great one. So bright and lifted with exotic notes I usually only get from Pfalz Riesling complex Chenin or other wines like Pieropan Soave, precise and complex, a broad spectrum of fruits with oak influence but less so a traditional oakiness, ripe fruit of a warm 2020 but this has the acid pull to follow through to the palate; I snuck a taste before the tasting and I kind of wanted to drink the majority of the bottle; really good stuff and want to try more from them.

Darker color; powerful and imposing, structured and honeyed, 2018 base, 42 months on lees and 2g of residual, this is generous and luscious, nice disparate richness and acids in overdrive; really great; my Krug I can afford.

From 2017 base this shows great richness and depth, brioche, toast and somewhat nutty, honeyed apple, still an elegance to it but the acidic drive on the finish is what separates this style in my book- Krug, Egly and this.

This was probably a little long in the tooth but I love to see well preserved examples of modest wines like these. They are fun. Developed aromas of leather, tea, wilting flowers and drying fruits, hinting at brown sugar but not dominated, balsamic in a way, still quite savory and lush this is good in small doses but it went out fighting.

Really enjoy this wine, brambly mix of tart red fruit and herbal dark fruit, feels woodsy but it definitely leads with the fruit and the green shades in the best way, tobacco and leather complement gently, juicy acids keep the present tannins from overpowering and allowing for food friendliness and strong drinkability; a steal of a QPR.

More subtle nose than the Zind Humbrecht next to it, no petrol evident, round, softer white fruit, a noticeable leesy cheesiness, finish is softer and less imposing than other vintages…with air this seems to shed some fat, a wine like me with layers of dormant muscle, the finish continues to lengthen and become more acidic with palpable mineral saltiness, zesty citrus; primary yet tasty this should probably sleep for a couple years before checking in again.

Classically styled, nose leaps out with lots of diesel, unmistakably Riesling, more yellow gold in color, sour mix of citrus fruits and underripe stone fruits, suggestions of darker mineral but this gets a little more refined and fresher mineral with air; a little less top-heavy than many Alsatian but still an imposing Riesling; ok, day 3 this is really in a good spot softening to the point of really nice elegance.

From 375 this was a really good showing, clean and balanced, a little more elegantly styled and pretty easy to drink, lots of honey and peaches, I can go there with the saffron too, a little less body than 2001 but should hold well for a while.

See through ruby violet; very floral nose, lots of violets, tea, sour plum, darker berries, a little funk, some granite minerality in the background, not a deep or rich wine but aromatic, juicy and lifted; on the palate that same quality continues, light and pretty rather than booming, acidic and juicy than palate staining, nice complexity, good friendly texture and longer aromatic finish.

2019 base, nose is a bit shy at first, fine bubbles, some green apple, lemon zest, gets nuttier as it warms, clean white fruit at this stage, let this sit a another year or two, still a serious Champagne that is still emerging from its shell.

GGs vs. 1er Cru Burgs (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Super viscous, setting sun orange; honeyed, orange blossom, marmelade, caramel, heavier and viscous, while acids are still strong they cannot compete with the sheer weight of the sugar here, some mushroom; developing but still very young.

A touch deeper golden yellow green; great as always, this shows a touch more weight, eggy golden yellow fruit, lemon candy, hint of butterscotch, a salty edge, good lift on the palate, really drinkable, developing slightly but should be good for a few years more before it shows significant development, a tremendous value as always.

A bit deeper yellow gold, fatter bubbles at first but when it settled they got finer and looked very enticing; age evident on the nose, slightly musty, soft bruised apple, not full on cidery but leaning more that direction, toast and obvious yeast development, golden fruit; weirdly flat on entry then incredibly sharp and sour on the finish to the point of hurting my throat- never had that happen, am I being poisoned for drinking Champagne on St Patty’s Day?

Wow, this is real, substantial Beaujolais with the elegance of fine Pinot from Côte d’Or, nephew of Rouget sounds about right, this is young and has great fruit but it’s not purple or medicinal, structured acids showing good potential for mid term cellaring.

Attractive pale ruby see through; a little funky on the nose, pure strawberry and cherry, understated, very sexy profile, pure and textured on the palate, umami, this should open up nicely with a little more time or aeration; delicious.

Light straw with green hues; nose is floral and fresh, petrichor and spring flowers, really beautiful and driving, elegance and nuance, there is a candied lime, guava, taut green and yellow fruit, so focused this could fool you as very good White Burgundy, love the complexity, next to the Taille Aux Loups 2015 this showed a little more precision and complexity with promising future but what a 1-2 Chenin punch!, I also have to admit to liking this more than the Guiberteau Breze's I've had; day 2 this has opened up further exhibiting a kiss of honey, a little more peach classic quince and glazed apple, feels like it has lost a little intensity and focus, the wood usage is still very discreet and no reduction, this is fleshier and classy on the palate showing slight oxidation and nuttiness but still feel the development should be very nice over time.
