Very dry and muted. Flat. Not unpleasant, but not impressive either. Still young, but not sure there is a lot of upside here.

Drank last night to start the New Year. At 25 years this still has everything. Continued to deliver over 4 hours with no sign of weakness. At its peak now but no need to rush.

Sent my wife to the cellar to pick something out to drink and she came up with a ‘13. Knowing that was too young, I went with her instinct but opted for a more mature version. This is drinking very well right now. Tannins are firm and well integrated. Initial lack of fruit on the nose which was dominated by earth and leather, but opened up within a half hour and displayed aromas and flavors of red and dark fruits along with leather, baking spices, cedar and wet earth. A pleasure to drink over two days, the second showing no apparent improvement. Nice acidity. I have another bottle which I’ll sit on for a year or two.

Drank with Kelly on our 10th anniversary. Cork was saturated but intact and removed with a Durand. Decanted for 3 hours, re-bottled, and decanted another hour before dinner. Nice color. Wonderful nose of red and dark fruits, earth and leather. This was a good wine, but not great. It lacked fruit and body, seeming almost one dimensional or flat. Unremarkable. This was consumed over 2 hours with little change. Don’t get me wrong; it was a nice wine but I was hoping to be wowed and I was not. Don’t see any upside here.

My last of a case and the best bottle yet. This is finally mature and very rewarding. The fruit has toned down but there’s still plenty to enjoy. Tannins are firm but smooth. Incredible terroir driven aromas of earth and tobacco. No rush as this should drink well for a few more years!

Simply incredible and even better than the last one I had a year and a half ago. Tannins are still firm and slightly dusty. The fruit has toned down a bit but in a good way. Incredible aromas and flavors of earth, leather, spices and menthol. This is as good as this gets and will continue to drink well for some time. I rarely rate anything this high.

From magnum. I could have waited longer but this was delicious nonetheless. Shared with guests along with a smoked prime rib. Refined tannins, dark red and black fruits, cassis, oak and a touch of vanilla. A bit sweet for my liking, but typical of a quality Napa Cab. Full bodied and well balanced. Plenty of life left in this one.

Very good with nice texture and body. Dark fruits and cassis, but missing some of the earthiness and spice that I so enjoy from Bordeaux. Plenty of life left and I would purchase again for the right price.

Smooth tannins and bright, juicy acidity. Dark red and black fruits with some spice. Drank very well over 3 hours. Wish I had more because this has plenty of life left. Paired well with grilled chicken and mushroom risotto.

Drank with Kelly at Morrissey’s in Saratoga. I was a bit concerned we were drinking too soon given the other notes, but we were pleasantly surprised as we enjoyed this bottle. Opened and poured into glass while we drank our cocktails. Began drinking within a half hour of opening. It was tight initially, but this wine was singing within an hour and continued to improve over the next couple hours. Dark fruit, cassis, leather, graphite and earth tones. Very enjoyable with steak frites and looking forward to enjoying the rest of these in years to come.

This has certainly changed in a year and is drinking very well. A nice quality, mature BdM which should continue to deliver pleasure for several years. Dark cherry, raspberry, leather, spice and minerality.

Tight and astringent initially, but very enjoyable after an hour decant and better still through the end. Floral notes and light and dark red fruit flavors.

Needs more time. Muted aromas and flavors of dark fruit, menthol, earth, cedar and tobacco leaf. Was not able to properly decant. Improved over time and was just developing into something special toward the end. Certainly has upside potential!

Translucent brick reddish brown. Intense nose of eucalyptus and dark cherry. Firm but well integrated tannins. Flavors of dark cherry, earth, licorice, tobacco and spices. This is in a great place and more rewarding the longer it breathes. Give it a long decant or let it sit in the cellar if you’re in no hurry. Plenty of life in this one.

I am just not a fan of new world style Napa Cabernet. I have more of this and some Becklyn and Quivet. If anyone is interested, message me and I will make you a deal on it.

Completely agree with NEWKID. Fully mature and expect this has a few thoroughly enjoyable years left. Once the funk blew off the dark fruits and earth shined. Well balanced and developed over several hours of enjoyment. Will pick up more if possible.

This bottle may have been slightly corked. Hint of bandaid on the nose with dark fruit. On the palette, stewed dark fruit and very earthy with high acidity. Did improve over time but never compared to past bottles. From 375ml.

From 375. Should have decanted or at least allowed to open in the glass. Very tight initially. Slightly hot from the alcohol before the fruit came out. After 30 minutes this began to soften into a wonderful wine. Medium+ body. Flavors of dark plum and cassis, mild vegetal tones, leather and cigar box. I am always amazed by the quality of this wine. Plenty more 10’s and 11’s to enjoy while waiting for the 13, 14 and 15’s to come around.

Drinking wonderfully right now. Would put this up against many BdM’s double the price. A slightly lighter style with cherry, earth, a touch of leather and tobacco. I’ll take my time on the last 3.

The fruit was faint initially, but developed to the perfect level of deep red fruit, combined with leather, tobacco and pencil lead. Slightly astringent at first, but settled down to deliver a well balanced, beautifully aged Bordeaux. Have 2 more of these and 2 85’s. Don’t expect much upside and will likely drink them all in the next 2-3 years.

Drank with friends at Mascaro’s. Half saturated cork. Nose of barnyard funk initially, giving way to dark cherries and licorice, earth and leather. Medium weight with refined tannins. Drank well after 10 minutes in the glass with no decant. Faded after a half hour, but was better an hour later. Seems beyond peak, but still some life left in this.

This truly is something special once it’s matured. Dark red a black fruit notes with a hint of tobacco, wood and minerality. Very similar to southern Rhone and not sure I’d be able to tell the difference. Love all of her stuff and wish I had more that were ready to drink.
