Wow! Obviously a baby but stunning clarity and beautiful ripe red cherry fruit with caressing tannins - almost irresistible but so much more to come

Could not resist trying a bottle from tis fabled vintage, excellent intensity and fine texture probably better to wait another 6 to 8 years

Evolved colour, oak quite pronounced on the nose. Impressive and generous but this bottle lacked a little energy and finesse despite still having generous layers of brambly fruit.

2nd bottle from the case, equally as ethereal and enchanting, fruit just opening up and supported by a beautifully judged structure or gentle ripe tannins. Overall a lovely precise, elegant and delicate wine at present, I'm sure this has the balance to age for a couple more decades if given the chance! By the end of the evening the fruit had become much darker and tannins more pronounced.

A bottle in great shape, polished deep gold, full deep and rich fruit with wonderful weight of botrytis, palate was sweet and opulent, all fresh in in great condition with bags of energy. This bottle was really singing and it felt as if it could be aged for years to come.

Lovely deep coloured fleshy wine that is now in its drinking window, big structure will keep this going for another decade but with plenty of air this is a lovely generous if slightly tannic wine to enjoy now

Great colour and great density, still a baby, if opened now decant for at least 3 hours as tannins are powerful and need air. Full, rich Cabernet.

Final bottle from the cellar, still has good colour and depth of fruit but no longer soaring from the glass, enjoyable but time to drink up

First bottle form a mixed case shipped a few years ago. Colour still deep and bright, fabulous minty WA Cab nose, brilliant typicity. Nothing tired or fading here, all bright and in focus, initially a touch of heat from 14% alc, but after an hour in decanter this settled and tannins rounded out. A really well judged classic from WA - delicious and plenty of years ahead if you choose to cellar this further.

Colour still deep, beautifully cedary St Julien fragrance, classic St Julien. not the wieght or punch of a profound vintage but beautifully balanced and elegant, a perfect foil for rack of lamb

Final bottle of this vintage from the cellar, fortunately in beautiful condition with seamless texture. Over the years quite a few bottles have suffered from reduction but this was singing and a suitably special bottle to share with my siblings to raise a glass to my late parents.

Decanted for 24 hours prior to Christmas day lunch. This was a stellar bottle, I've had oxidised bottles a couple of times in the past 2 or 3 years but this was perfect. Great colour, wonderfully ripe fleshy Fonseca fruit and powerful but ripe tannins. A really full bodied generous Port in its prime.

Approachable, typically rich Doisy Daene but also balanced with lovely freshness - weight of Barsac as opposed to Sauternes, thoroughly enjoyable and pleasantly viscous - ready but no rush

Already almost irresistible, the oak is rich and beautifully balanced and the palate has wonderful freshness and drive, much more approachable than its Bannockburn Pinot sibling at this stage but equally well balanced. Will try to patient for the next bottle but could be tricky!

Still very youthful with deep colour and layers of flavour but I intend to hold my final bottle for another decade as this is still a baby and I'm sure there is still bags to come, interestingly outshone on the night by the 2019 vintage of the same wine served alongside it

Deep colour, wonderful balance and energy - a bit criminal to drink it so young as lots of complexity still to develop but deeply impressive and favourite wine of the night alongside a bottle of 2010 and 2013

Deep colour, beautiful savoury nose and a touch of leather, the palate has dark ripe berry fruit and still plenty of structure from classic tannins that give the palate a lovely shape. Fruit builds and builds as the evening goes on, dry style of tannin will always be there but this is partly why it is so refreshing and well balanced. A wonderful classic Pomerol that is currently delicious and one that I suspect will continue to age gracefully for a further 10+ years.

Colour still remarkably deep, nose fresh and open with real depth and mature autumn leaves, wet soil and a touch of iodine. Palate is beautifully balanced, not as intense as a premier division producer but lovely finesse and flavour. Tannins are resolved but continue to give an attractive frame. Overall this bottle was in excellent condition and if the remaining handful are at this level there is much to look forward to.

Extraordinarily good, sadly my last bottle, shared with friends on a balmy evening, the wine was slightly hazy having been disturbed by the journey but the aromas just burst out of the glass and the palate was complete satin. A bottle that simply hummed with energy and flavour - a wonderful treat.

Very flattering, much more open and accessible than I anticipated, quite a bit of vanilla from the oak alongside a full rich palate but all with a lovely freshness. My instinct is that this has not yet closed down, my memory of this wine is that it is usually very tight in youth but not on this occasion. A lovely touch of noisette and thoroughly enjoyed as we chatted pre-dinner.

From Jeroboam - Showing beautifully, still relatively pale, the nose had plenty of freshness and orchard fruits, the oak was subtle and well integrated and there was lovely lift and freshness on the palate. A succulent wine with a gently mineral finish. Super to drink now but no rush if you have this in large format.

Deep colour, loaded with fruit and enjoyably elegant. Lovely ripeness, full, fleshy and fresh. I'm sure this will keep but it is already drinking ewell to my palate. 2nd day the aromas were a bit volatile and perhaps the alcohol showing a bit.

Opened my last bottle to replace a corked one. Very concentrated dark fruit that still needs time to open up. Not as easy and flattering as bottle 4 from the case about 12 months ago, this felt as if it was going back into its shell. Perhaps 2009’s are tightening up again, still bags of fruit but a bit awkward and very iron filings on finish. A bit serious and not Vin de plaisir, sadly will never know as ship has sailed. I’d trust Bachelet that this will re-imurge.

A forgotten bottle in the cellar, colour still very bright, nose is almost peachy and tropical, certainly exotic. Palate is precise and very long but after 30 minutes started to exhibit a bot of oxidation. Over the years I have had some breath taking bottles from Cotat but this one, whilst delicious in so many ways, was a bit more advanced than I anticipated - still, no slouch and a lovely glass of wine.

A delicious 2009, served fresh from the cellar the opulence of the vintage is tempered by the slightly cooler temperature, this keeps the tension in a good place. Lovely opulent layers of fruit both on the nose and the palate, richness too, still a touch of vanillin but does not detract form the pleasure. Plenty of life in this wine, but also entirely delicious to start to enjoy now.

In a lovely place right now, cool elegant nose with lovely dark fruit but nothing forced or extreme, oak well integrated, suitably graphite yet pure. Palate is beautifully refreshing, with excellent balance and refreshing finish. 13% alc made this deliciously appetising, lacks for nothing. Can certainly kept and the last bit of vanilla will no doubt be absorbed but tannins are already supple and fruit entirely approachable - delicious (wish I had more in the cellar!)

Decanted for 3 hours, Colour still deep, classic lead pencil graphite nose, super purity and intensity, the flesh has dropped off this a bit but I'm sure it will return in time. This has wonderful clarity of flavour and brilliant intensity on the long fine finish - so much zip. This has at least a decade of life in it, probably more.

Mature colour, nose still lively, fruit is beginning to fade but proportions are elegant tannins integrated. Some leathery notes initially but a couple of hours decanting resolved this and a more floral element came to the fore. Enjoyed with slow roasted lamb.

Huge colour, deeply impressive wine. Ripe full and sweet, powerful but fine quality tannins, this is still a baby but given how often I leave bottles too long before opening them the vibrant fruit here was a joy as was the quality of the tannins - delicious from now for another 30 years?!

Deeper colour, softer, more mature than I anticipated but no shortage of fruit just not quite so much tension and mineralite that I normally associate with this vintage/ grower. Lovely to drink now, not sure i'd keep this if I had more, but not going to be a problem on that score...

Quite pale and more evolved than I anticipated before pulling the cork, a light citrus note on the nose and a gentle elegant palate with rounded tannins, quite an understated wine that many guests really enjoyed for its finesse but not as full on as anticipated, drink now, not for keeping.

Huge colour and initially very tannic but after 3 hours in a decanter the fruit had blossomed and covered the tannins, if you like soft wine then best to wait but if you enjoy full throttle Pomerol this is drinking beautifully
