Second time trying the Avignonesi Nobile. Again, I was surprised how good this was. Drank like a much older bottle than it was. The fruit was polished and elegant with noticable black tea and other tertiary notes. The acidity remained high. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

Not a fan. White wine juice. Flabby. Boring. Tried the lemon and tonic version--still lame.

Best on day 3. I'm just discovering Rioja now. This reminds me of a nice CDR or cheap CDP. Red fruit (perhaps stronger on the fruit than the Rhone), some spice and tobacco. Solid acidity. Enjoyed but needs air to open a bit. Not sure how much Grenache is in the blend (10-15%?) but it felt nicely omnipresent in some way.

Very nice. A balanced wine: delicate yet elegant nose with solid red fruit (raspberry over cranberry) and black tea with a hint of baking spice on the palate.

Quite mute on the nose to start. Dark fruit, cinnamon, and tobacco on the palate. Both the nose and palate were more expressive on the following tasting a couple days later. Quite nice really.

Thought this was wonderful. Had a glass blind a year ago and guessed a right bank Bordeaux blend--though this is a third Syrah!. With an hour of air this was singing. Great bottle and will seek this out. Good QPR. Enjoyed their GSM as well.

Second time trying the 2017 vintage. Have loved the '16. Paired this with smoked brisket which I hoped would fit really nice. Came off as overly herbal, hot and almost a bitterness to the fruit. Not sure if the pairing, vintage or my mood was off with this one as I've loved everything from this producer in the past.

Very nice Albarino. We pick this up when we are passing through Wa. Paired with mussels and oysters off the beach. Riper example, of course, with peach coming out in front. Still saline and fresh. Nice finish.

Bit of barnyard or old cellar on opening but this blew off. Pleasant dusty strawberry with herbs and leather. Nicely balanced. Drank like a simple (if oaky) CDP with the red fruit and spice. Pleasantly surprised by this.

Floral with cherry on the nose. Decent complexity and finish. Tannin showing up near the end of the bottle as the food started to run out. Very drinkable now (1 hour in the carafe). Great QPR and would love to pick up more of these. Paired nicely with beef short ribs.

Came across as being an aged wine. Very mellow but with concentrated and mostly dark fruit. Acid medium, tannin present. First Chenas, hopefully not the last. I doubt this bottle is representative of the region.

Rich with baking spice. Solid but subtle tannin. Milk chocolate on both the nose and pallate. Difficult to spot the Sangiovese in this--differant animal. Still, enjoyable.

My first 2019. Fresh fruit and acidity on p&p.
The bottom of the bottle was finished on day 3. Interesting development. Definitely some mushroom/tertiary flavors popping out. Really savored the final sips.

Nearly undrinkable. Paired slightly better the second day with sweeter food but all strawberry/cherry concentrate with some vanilla extract thrown in--Meiomi like

Drinking nicely. Funny, I had this vintage just a couple months ago elsewhere and it came off as a bit flat. Dusty fruit, mostly strawberry for me with lovely herbal notes. Acid held everything up and the tannins were firm yet balanced. Paired with a herb crusted rack of lamb with roasted veg and mushrooms. Perfect pairing.

Very smooth. Dark plum and meat and a herbal note that I couldn't place. Velvety smooth but at a cost--vanilla scented candle edge to it.

My first go at a PX. What a wine! As a lover of Port wines this is just fantastic QPR in comparison. Burnt caramel and juicy raisin with coffee, a touch of balsamic vinegar, sugered apricots and pecan or butter tart essence. Yum.

I was underwhelmed by this. Definately structured but the fruit was very subdued. It improved slightly after two hours with dark fruit and subtle floral aromas. Very bright on the palate. We drank this next to another Morgon that was just singing. Too bad because we had high expectations for the Desvignes-maybe next time.

Slightly disappointed with this bottle. We really enjoyed the 2020 but found this lacking a little in complexity and finish. Nice brightness still, and pleasant but not memorable. Paired with a braised pork shoulder.

Paired incredibly with a Rib eye and roasted veg/mushrooms. This is easily the best Beringer Knights Valley I've had. Enjoyed the 2018 last year but this was better still.

3rd bottle of this Spanish Garnacha. Enjoyed the wine more than previously. Strawberries, raspberries, cinnamon on the nose. On the palate, it is more cherry fruit and again the cinnamon with faint licorice edges. Enjoyed.

In a very nice spot right now. Dark fruit, rich and smooth with a medium to long finish. Still plenty of structure, but all rounded corners and lushness. Shared with a long time friend who had never experienced a Priorat before. Pleased to say that it was a hit.

Good acid, light fruit-present but not especially interesting-and more barnyard notes than I've noticed before with a Valp Classico.

First time with a Trousseau. Surprised with the pallor, the lightness, the hints of melon fruit. Mild earthy notes. Almost interesting but felt tired. This may be over the hill.

Bright fruit (I get strawberries), pleasant tertiary notes--farmyard, fermenting apples, fine crisp acid and finishes long.

Something wrong with this. Possibly corked. Sharp metallic aftertaste that disrupted the experience. Let the wine sit for a couple days and tried again--the metallic taste was still there but subdued. Unfortunate. Looks like this is a common problem with this bottle when looking at the other comments.

Enjoyed this Bordeaux. Nothing outstanding but pleasant drinking and interesting enough in its class. I sipped over two days with some aged Gouda as a pairing.
40% Merot
35% Cab Franc
20% Cab Sav
5% Petit Verdot
I'd buy it again.

Enjoyed. Rich with ripe black fruit and chocolate. In fact, I've never had a wine that had such prominent chocolate notes. Seemed to loose a little structure after a couple hours, almost muddy-could have been the food pairing though. Looking forward to trying more from this producer in this exciting new region.

Lots here of what I like about Beaujolais but just a little toned down and less captivating. Fruit a little subdued with the high acid as always. Paired with poulet au pot. Decent pairing but perhaps the wine showed off the food more than food the wine. All and all enjoyable. Should note that the tannins really grew with time. My last post dinner glass was nice and grippy, a first with cru bojo's for me.

This was just wonderful. Red fruit with complex tertiary notes--pinot like. I've heard that Sangiovese can be mistook for Pinot before but never experienced this. Just slight brett notes with more noticeable black tea and meat around the edges. Complex and medium long finish. Paired with lamb chops with Salsa Verde sauce. Really enjoyed.
