Great drinking! Medium bodied long length, lovely nose , beautiful integration of berries and oak. Drank with a rare fillet of beef. Perfect combination. Will obviously hold for a considerable period of time, but drinks beautifully now.

Brilliant red, clean, sparkling nose of red fruit. Fine fully integrated tannin. Medium bodied. Lovely drinking. Outshone the 2006 Pontet Canet! Near best but will hold for an extended period

Seemed a little flat. Colour had a touch of brown around the edges. Beautiful balance, and tannin textures but overshadowed by the 2006 Mt Mary Quintet.

Lovely drink, full bodied, smooth but generous tannin, moorish mouthful enticing you back for more. Am inclined to drink rest of stock while it remains so good.

Half bottle, screw cap. Medium red very clean to edges. Lovely sweet nose, both oak and sweet fruit aromas. A moorish mouthful, showing no evidence of 14.5 per cent alcohol.oak and fruit well integrated. Very Barossan in a good way. Drinking beautifully now and no need to hurry through stock.

Cork (in good condition), cracking semillon, drinking wonderfully well beguiling colour, wonderful nose. All an aged semillon should be!!
The wine looks pale greenish gold colored. It smells like lime and grapefruit. It tastes like lime and grapefruit. The body is light. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes long.

Dumb nose; huge wine, very syrupy; too intense to get much sense of. A big (too big??) Mclaren vale shiraz. tasted over four nights. By day three was beginning to open open and structure more visible, as were tannins. I will leave five years before trying again.

A delightful 'big' wine; beautiful chewy but fine tannins, rich ripe black fruit that has come together to form a delightful aging 'pennies'. a meal in its own right!! Will be a delight over the next decade.

First bottle, still inky, dense red, big wine, old style Penfolds. Beautifully balanced fine tannins. Full of spices on nose. Rich, heavy (coming after some delightful pinot). Tasted more like a 3 year old than nine year old. Put away for five years before trying again.

Cork in good shape, lovely chocolately taste, surprisingly rich, slightly gravely tannins that that complement. The bottle drank very well. Opened with trepidation but no need, even though some hints that it would be best to drink up.

Drank this as a part of a vertical tasting (1990 to 2006). Highlight of the day among the older wines were the 1994, 1995 and 1996 - medium bodied, fully integrated oak, lovely hints of black currant on palate, and eucalyptus nose. The 2001 was also drinking very well. The 2004 and 2006 show plenty of promise but the oak is still overpowering. 2000 was weakest; both 2002 bottles showed faults (cork taint/brett?). Wines appear to need 10 to 15 years to really hit the mark. The 1990 was excellent but has reached its best.

Still a youthful wine. Abundant fruit and tannin suggest 5-8 years before it reaches its peak. Long length and balance. Brick red fading on edges to browns. Excellent drinking but could well improve as it integrates further. Was shaded on the night by the 1988 Wynn's John Riddoch.
