Drank last nite at our CKH wine dinner. Much lighter in color than what I'm used to with my previous CC tastings. Nose of sweet fruit, some apple, some butterscotch. Medium to full-bodied, plenty of fruit here, there's still-noticeable wood which gives the wine a creamy texture, along with good acidity and noticeable viscosity. This is a fairly big wine, but nicely balanced. As discussed at the table, this wine had noticeable notes of butterscotch and caramel which I've always noticed in CCs 5-10 yrs older than this one, and I had always attributed to the bottles' age. I guess I was mistaken in that regard for this 2009, imo, remains a very fresh, youthful, and vibrant wine. And of all people, Stevie W. brings this CC to the table! Not only was this the youngest CC I can recall tasting, but also ended up as my white WOTN. Very enjoyable wine!

Impressive and delicious. Most felt blind they would have guessed Batard as this is a showy nicely concentrated wine. Very good depth & purity of apple laden fruit with good lift and energy. No oxidative issues here. Comes across as drinking near peak with lots of lip smacking serious enjoyment. This bested a excellent flight of 3 Martray's just prior to this flight. One attendee marked it down for lacking some nuance, although most disagreed. Big yum factor here.

Both Shades of Corton (My home - Chicago IL): Clearly ripe with very good concentration. Still nicely fresh, just slightly less nuanced than I was hoping for this wine vs when tasted younger. Maybe more time will help bring out more?

Very rich with plenty of stone and orchard fruit with impressive concentration, perhaps still a touch of protruding new oak. Great nose, good+ flavors.

First impressions were a bit tart and short, but with two hours this opens up gorgeous. Ripe fruit, vanillin creamy oak, but lovely balance despite the size. From 375, I’d still hold off

Big and powerful ripe apple and white peach, with a touch of citrus zest. Full rich palate and long finish with notes of baking spices and fresh minerality.

Chicago Wine Flock...Burgundy Al Asks "Is it Grand Cru?" (My home - Chicago IL): Served blind to the group in CC 2009 flight. Opulent and very powerful, this shows lots of ripe apple and baked apple with both savory and sweet spice. Very 2009. I certainly liked this wine a lot, but most of tonight's group liked it even more.

2009 LOUIS JADOT CORTON CHARLEMAGNE GRAND CRU- tasted blind; first hit on the nose and it was clearly oxidized; I tried to move on past it, but it got worse.

Nose is rather outspoken, with sweet floral perfume, orange and lemon peel, lime and sweet pears. A bit of obtrusive toasty oak spices are in the background. Palate is a mixture of sweet and ripe tropical fruits & pears, with vanilla, and again, too much oak. Good alright, but to heavy and thick with too much clumsy oak for a top layer Corton - Charlemagne. I’m missing the real Grand Cru freshness, finesse and complexity in this bottle. (My blind guess was Jadot Meursault…)

Flowers like jasmine, saffron, pineapple, lemon- this is just how it smells! Great body, little to no oak, but a touch of Cheerios- as in the cereal. Really. great acidity with a super long finish... This is a most interesting and tasty Corton Charlemagne...

Westchester Wine School Premium Burgundy Tasting (Mamaroneck, NY): Drank at WWS tasting blind vs. Pousse d'Or 1er cru Cailleret 2010. The CC showed a pale to medium golden color. Wonderful, complex nose of tropical fruits, floral notes combined with a compelling freshness. Sweet, ripe pears on the palate, along with some vanilla notes & a very definite toasty quality which I found very appealing. Nice round mouthfeel, fuller bodied than the Cailleret, but still balanced with a solid acidity level. Overall, a delicious, well-balanced, complex wine, which also showed great length, with a bit of chalkiness at the back.

Burgundy tasting with friends (Our house, Kennett square, PA): Complex, rich but elegant, great acid, clearly good material her. Some oak though that reminds me of a Jadot Mersault I had earlier in the year. Is that a hallmark of Jadot whites? Some pear and honey. I'd love to try this in ten years.

White Burgundy Grand Cru (AuZone, Stockholm): Light yellow colour. Nose with ripe pear and almost pear candy/pear-flavoured ice cream impression, citrus, mineral, white flower, soice, a hint of butter, oak and some “oak vanilla”. On the palate citrus, strong pear notes, high acidity, mineral, some spice, finishes with grapefruit notes including rather strong grapefruit bitterness. Young, approachable now, but could gain in complexity by cellaring. 91+ p. Definitely a good wine, but I found its style to be a bit “in your face”.

Maison Louis Jadot (The Wine Summit at the Post Hotel in Lake Louise): 50% new oak; pale yellow; swirling suggest weight; full nose - spice, more oak influences; round and full on the palate - big styled wine; good acidity; pear and apple flavors - some citrus; everything comes together in the extremely long finish. Enjoyed this wine.

At first I thought I had a real winner because of power and intensity. Almost Meursault like in its fat. But strangely it went south over the next half hour and turned a dangerously simple lemon juice water. Very odd.

This shows minerality from the first sniff, some challkiness, higer acid that the 2009 1er Cru whites served previously, greeat structure on this, some green apples, tasteful oak treatment, toasty with a long finish, excellent wine. We were told this is from Les Pougets.
