Still dark, deep ruby in color with not much clearing at the rim. Muted and restrained at the beginning - clearly felt something was hiding beneath. Slowly opened up over the course of a 2 hour dinner - margaux perfume - violets, cedar wood, with a lot of fruit remaining - black cherries, blackberries; lovely bouquet. A lot of black fruit flavor. Good structure: medium acidity, lots of fruit aroma without being over the top, balanced alcohol, medium body, well-integrated tannins (still there, but soft and pleasant already). Lasting finish. PnP, got better with every slow sip over time. A solid bottle!

Much more approachable han my 2010 Chasse Spleen. Granted 33% more expensive. Following a 3 hour decant, which is a necessity, wine is dark, opaque, can't see through. Classic BDX cigar/cedar nose. Some vanilla. Fruit came through but only after the long decant. For now, a keeper, but I would not continue to age.

14% alcohol. CS 70%, M 20%, PV 10% according to Jeff Leve. Cork of good length and above average quality with limited wine penetration. Decanted an hour ahead. Dark impenetrable colour with no fading at the rim. The nose is richly dark fruited (mostly blackcurrant) and free of oak. The mouth is very smooth but not without grip thanks to soft residual tannins in the finish. Very good harmony here. A winner; compared to the Leo-B 99 that I had yesterday, the present wine is more immediately seductive and with a bit more stuffing, but not necessarily better. Both styles have their place, and this diversity is what makes Médoc so interesting, even after forty years... Good ageing potential (the wine, not myself unfortunately).

Really nice wine: Quite a lot of mature, ripe, dark, fruit, without being fruit forward or over the top. On the fuller side. Opened up quite quickly in the glass, but of course a very long decant would have been even better, let us say 4-5 hours. Could probably ad 1-2 points with 5-10 years in the cellar. This is quite a bargain, I would say.

Strong, dark, structured. Opened night before and decanted 4x. Could have decanted more. But opened up in glass nicely so after first sips was tasting in its prime.

Certainly one of my better experiences with all the 2010 BDX's I purchased. These BDX are soooo distinctly different than new world cab and cab blends that they are hard to rate and compare. But for a classic BDX, it was a very pleasurable experience.

From magnum. Even though it was given a 5+hour decant, this wine did not impress. It was quite tight and with predominant wood and cigar box notes, the (dark) fruit came through just a bit at the end. Not ready yet.

Night one, even after 3 hour decant, just could not drink. Classic cigar and cedar nose and flavors, but just too tannic. Decided to let it sit. Second night, much better after 24 hours of air. But still, not very rounded out. Now, finally on third night, much more approachable. The cigar and cedar is much more tempered. The tannins have softened, and shockingly, some fruit has actually surfaced. What I don't know, given I have a case still left, what will it taste like after a PnP in 5 more years. The older I get, the less attractive old world reds get to me.

Classic BDX. Cedar and cigar box smells. Soft tannins, likely due to high Merlot component?? Definitely needed a 3 hour decant as that is when it really opened up totally. Lots of sediment, so decant carefully or filter.

14% alcohol. CS 43%, M 33%, CF 19%, PV 5% in the vineyard according to the website (although this is clearly out of date since it still lists the late Denis Dubourdieu as the consultant oenologist). Good long cork with no wine penetration. Decanted 90 mn ahead. Very dark with barely a hint at thinning at the edge of the rim. Very good lively nose of dark berries and harmonious notes of oak; some confectionery after a while. The mouth is even better, displaying bright sweet fruit (not in the sugary sense), excellent grip and general harmony. Clearly very young, but already giving much pleasure; much more to come with bottle age, including the softening of a mildly dissonant note of alcohol. The tannins are already soft. A resounding success, especially after the disappointing San Leonardo yesterday, and I must say that it pleases me to think that Denis Dubourdieu may have had a hand in the making of this wine. A repeat purchase (the du Tertre that is!).

Decanted for 4hrs. Quite a bit of sediment in this one and tannins still quite present. Lucious fruit that really came through later in the evening. Great value here and will wait 3-4 years before opening the remaining 2 bottles.

First bottle from an en primeur purchase. Pnp. Black cherry color in the glass. Good aromatics on opening with creme de cassis, tobacco, and fainter clove, cedar, and anise. On the entry this has tannin that builds in chewiness the first ten seconds or so before turning toward a chalky, briar, and cassis stained mid palate. The acidity and finish were somewhat hollow.
This glass was consumed after a 2010 d’Angludet. By comparison I found the Angludet possessing more vigor and persistence. This has a slight edge in terms of elegance but the sturdiness and diversity of the Angludet was more appealing to me.
I would drink this wine by 2025.

I don't usually drink Bordeaux, but when I do, Tertre is one of my go-tos. Very good value here if you're looking for a well-structured, mildly complex Bordeaux. It's developing at the moment, but still has 5-6 more years to go. Enjoy it now for its best presentation.

Retail purchase in 2020, perfect cork and fill. Dark red to rim. Nice nose of cherry and cassis with some earthy and savory notes. Medium body, crisp fruit, nice acidity, nice fresh green streak, grippy tannins, medium finish. No aged complexity yet but it’s out of its shell. Not as big or as promising as a recent 2010 D’Issan but will likely be better in 5-10 years. Excellent.

1 hour decant. Dark purple color. Has that classic French nose I love! Decent fruit but it fades and thins out over time. Smells great but has that tart/bitter finish that tells you it isn’t in the upper echelon of wines. Decent QPR. Could be great in 5+yrs as it does show potential.

Drunk over 2 days, decanted for a couple of hours. Glossy, everything well knit together. Leafy, plenty of fine, inky dark fruit, some tertiary cigar box characters only just starting to poke through. Tannins are firm. Loads of time ahead of it but pleasurable to drink now.

A little better than the last time. Decanted two hours and the wine really improved over the next two hours and out on more weight. Great value for the price. Dark blackish color. Cab Sauvignon dominates. Nose is still closed but gives way to a nice, balanced wine. Classic Bordeaux. Medium mouthfeel. Finish is medium long and quite silky. The last of the decanter was the best. It is still young and can go many more years. Fair amount of sediment in the bottle so didn't pour the entire bottle into the decanter.

Big and classic nose and you can feel the power of 2010. Drinking well right now in it’s early stages. Big fruit and energy all there for the long haul. Dinner at Du Tertre 3/29/19

Decanted for two hours. A little sediment at the end so don't decant the entire bottle. Nice barnyard nose and typical Bordeaux. QPR is decent with this wine as it is at a lower price point. That being said the wine is a little thin, not heavily extracted and devoid of the layers of flavors found in the top Chateau. Body and structure is light and the finish fairly short. I would say that while worth the money this wouldn't be a special occasion wine but just a decent wine for a weekend dinner.
2 hour decant. Pretty classic BDX, much more obvious when first opened with cedar/cigar box characteristics which blew off with time. A very nice effort. I am not convinced you can't do better than this with a Napa Cab in the same price range. For a vintage that was supposed to be a killer BDX vinatage . . I would expect more.

If you want to taste and smell what I would call classic BDX, this is it right now. Tones of cedar, cigar box and oak. Very, very nice wine. I am not sure of the ageability of this wine. I would drink up!
During a Magnum dinner. A decent wine but not grand. Earthy, oaky with dark fruit. Du tertre is usually well made but the terroir unfortunately just does not yield a very complex wine.

WS Grand Tour 2018, New York. The first wine. Medium to dark ruby in colour. Tight. The oak is still very prominent. Needs air - or better, a lot of time. But everything seems to there; good fruit, lots of fine tannin and good acidity. A very good vintage for Château du Tertre. I would start drinking from 2030 at the earliest. 92(?)

I was in a French bistro mood so with homemade steak au poivre, mashed potatoes, creamy mushrooms and kale we opened the 2010 Chateau du Tertre.
It seems that every 2010 Bordeaux I open is ready to play, this one had a vibrant purple color, subdued nose (that's me for every wine I drink now, I should stop mentioning nose), and on the palate smooth tannins, good core of dark fruit, earthy and full bodied. Great with the rich food, good balance but a bit lacking in the mid and the finish could be a tad longer but I really loved it. 93

So for the price point you should buy more than 1 of these bottles. Ripe red fruit, integrated tannins, and just a hint of brown spice. I decanted this wine for 2 hours and it opened right up. I thought it would be closed down given the year, but this wine is in a good place. If you like ample fruit to your Bordeaux's drink up.

Deep ruby core - slight fade at the rim; rich, dark fruited nose. Quite mineral. A little oak spice peeping through. A little heady - promising richness though; a rich mouthful of fruit with a lick of oak. This is still very youthful and will need a few more years to develop. Fruit very primary. A little heat on the finish.

Beautiful Margaux at $50, with the classic minerality and floral notes of this appellation. The 2009 is an edge better, but this 2010 is very approachable with a couple hours of decanting.

Drinking nicely, definitely benefits from some time in decanter. Rich on the nose with leather, tobacco and cedar. Big upfront tannins that are still heavy, with long finish. Lower fruit on the palate than expected, will likely come forward with age.

Showing better from bottle than from barrel (which makes sense, given that I seemed to be in a minority when judging it from barrel), the 2010 du Tertre has a nice dark plum/garnet color, a slightly more evolved style than most Margaux, hints of cedar, licorice, black olive and black currant fruit with some flowers and subtle smoky wood in the background. Medium to full-bodied, round, generous and ripe, the words “sexy” and “opulent” come to mind when smelling and tasting this beautiful Margaux. Drink it over the next 15 or more years.

The nose in the 2010 du Tertre is fantastically herbaceous: cedar tree, black currants, chocolate, spices and underbrush. This is the vegetal kind I really appreciate with Bordeaux. Even though e.g, Tuscany makes fantastic Bordeaux blends, they often lack the grassy and vegetal feel of the origin. Soft, elegant and medium-bodied, still with terrific structure. Gentle but still noticable tannins.

Compared to its sibling Giscours, this has more of a lead pencil, darker profile – not as open and delineated. Dense and tannic, this feels a bit broad. Lacks charm, which is not the greatest quality in a Margaux. Still, a very decent wine. 89-91.

Bibendum Bordeaux 2010 en primeur tasting (Lord's Cricket Ground, London): No Cabernet Franc in 2010 - the Cabernet-Sauvignon was so beautiful that the Franc, arguably one of the defining (up to 20%) elements of Du Tertre, was excluded. In this somewhat unfamiliar guise still a typically generous and feminine wine. If pricing remains sensible, great QPR.

du Tertre is the product of a blend from 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. This is unique for the property as they usually include between 10% and 20% Cabernet Franc. This assemblage created a perfume of tobacco leaf, fresh herbs and blackberries. This elegant, medium/full bodied wine is filled with sweet cassis, ripe tannin and floral sensations ending with soft textures and ample freshness in the finish. 90-92 Pts

Certainly one of my better experiences with all the 2010 BDX's I purchased. These BDX are soooo distinctly different than new world cab and cab blends that they are hard to rate and compare. But for a classic BDX, it was a very pleasurable experience.

Inky purple. Youthful and compact rim.
Primary aromas of fruit-driven characters.
The palate is elegant and soft. Blueberry, dark cherry, and cassis seasoned with baking spices. Personally it feel somewhat just a tad over-extracted and shows some sign of burning sensation on the back of my throat.
I would give this 5 more years before revisit, 10-12 for full enjoyment. 90+
