Beautiful wine in a very good, mature place. Bright red fruit, blueberry, dried tobacco, coffee. Full of energy and sappy, concentrated fruit. At this point it's fully mature, round, smooth. Great mouth feel with a texture on the finish. Beautiful wine, a real treat.

This second wine of the Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck reminds me that process and passion are as critical as terroir. His use of only 65+ years Old vines that have never tasted pesticides adds food for thought, though perhaps not something I can taste from the wine. This is a late age at 18 years old but is still delivering spice and pepper notes. Being the second wine, I wouldn’t keep it much longer. Go ahead, open that bottle and enjoy it!

Wow, so young, never would have guessed this wine to be 16 years of age. Quite dark color with lots of black berries, some cocoa, vanilla and some underwood. Super refined tannins and lots of power this second wine of pingus really convinces and has still a long time ahead.

Strong vanilla smell, oak, toast, blackfruits, spices, mint, black tea. High tannin, medium+ acidity. Second label of Pingus and in my opinion top 2 winery in Spain. 2004 was also an outstanding vintage for Ribera Del Duero wines. The second label of Pingus is a fraction of the price of the Pingus and yet approachable currently. But if it was Pingus, I presume we have to wait much longer to be enjoy it.

This was a great display of pure quality. Lots of substance and density to this plush, seamless, single pieced and velvety wine. Lots of black and ripe red fruit, intermix with exotic spices, with a firm punch after 15 years. It grew and grew in the glass and just got better and better, with every pour outscoring the last. If if it would not have vanished so fast, the rating might be even higher. A super wine to find and enjoy now, because its on point. Drink or hold

Flor de Pingus 2004 is a powerhouse of a wine. Packed with black fruit, dark chocolate and roasted notes. Still a youngster, and needs additional cellaring to settle down. Overall it is an impressive wine, but a tad too much extraction and new oak for my taste. Tasted alongside the 2009, this 2004 came out slightly ahead and with better integrated alc

As the first in 2019 I can't say there has been any noticeable aging since the last notes. This is a well balanced, harmonious wine that is years from hitting it's tertiary peak where I will await it with my last bottle in 5 - 10 yrs. However, it is aging much more slowly than I am....

Still a baby, but approachable out of the bottle. Firm but fine tannins, big fruit concentration that is bursting to come out, but held back a bit by the structure. Clearly a lot of evolution left to come. Delicious, but probably better with a long decant or with a few more years in the bottle. Still really enjoying it as a pop & pour though...

Lots of black berry aromas and flavors with vanilla, espresso and cassis, all with a modern flair, but such good concentration and always a sense of restraint and reserve.

Rioja and Ribero del Duero (Tilia): Very modern and young. Vanilla, cherry and olive. This wine was big and simple. If you like a whole lot of fruit, you will like this wine.

Amali BYO Dinner (Amali Restaurant - NY, NY): My first time with this producer. The nose is really pretty on this wine with lots of dark fruit. On the palate quite dense, dark fruit, earth and herbs - a touch of tar on the finish. Still quite youthful with structure to continue aging well beyond the CT window of 2020.
Another Amali BYO dinner (Amali in NYC): Very very young. In retrospect we probably should have decanted this. It had a bit of that 'just out of the bottle' gangliness (made up word - but think a newborn colt as they are trying to find their feet) that happens in wine. Peppery which I always enjoy. Give it some time.

Heute wieder in brillianter Form. 98+

In the beginning too one-dimensional, nice ripeness, for me at his Peak, cherry, a Little bit bramble berry, silky Tannins, alcohol well integrated, some tobacco and dark chocolate in the late-palate, not so strong as 3 years ago, rated it then 99, 99 and 98.

Dark in color and a lot of tar on the tongue. Very concentrated but multidiemdsional. Needed air. Became more and more charming. This is liquid spanish forestfloor !!! Will benefit from more time in the cellar. But it was a joy to drink. 94 + ??

Held since release, this was a PnP, though not necessarily by design. Nonetheless, it worked just fine. The wine is in its secondary stage, with no sign, yet, of tertiary development. That said, this medium-bodied wine is classically built, with plenty of fresh acidity and very fine tannins. While it was nice to see it now, it's clearly going to develop even more complexity; would love to see this in 8-12 years, if I'm being honest. Very little sediment. HOLD.
Violets, leather, tobacco, smoke. Lovely & floral. Firm with fine tannins, resin, and sappy black tar. Early plateau of drinking, a bit young. Very nice.

Wow! Wasn't sure what to expect- but this is one of the better bottles of wine I've enjoyed in a long time. It is a powerhouse of dark fruits and gripping, fine tannins. It is very full body, but perfectly balanced. Both complex and structured, with a long finish that still has my mind processing the flavors. Dark dense fruits dominate, with gripping tannins as noted. There was lots of sediment, but it was settled in the bottle and didn't pour out at all. Some chalk/flint on the palette, and a touch of spice and minerality. Enough acid to give the fruit tartness without being bitter. Simply impeccable. I only gave it a short decant, and glass 2 was noticeably more developed than glass 1. I suspect it will be very good when I finish the bottle tomorrow. Even though this is not an inexpensive wine, it exceeded expectations. Fantastic!

Basically a pop and pour. Drinking very well, if a little monolithic. Itense nose with loads of dark chocolate, but like a single origin, with loads of fruit to back it up. Already soft on the palate, this showed just a touch of tannin to give it a well-delineated finish.

BYO @ Mathias: Has developed very nicely and this is just an amazing wine. It has always been stunning and continues to be great. Even though it has started to show some age, there is still so many layers of fruit in this wine for it to just continue its development!

Dinner at a friend’s place. Wines were tasted blind. My last bottle of 2004 Flor de Pingus was in 2010. Of course, there was much more primary fruit back then. A cloak of flavors that the wine has partially shed by now, showing more signs of maturity. Wonderful flavors of dark fruits, licorice, pipe tobacco, fine wood and juicy spices. This wine is a real powerhouse, but with ultra polished and fine tannins, very balanced characteristics and a rather long aftertaste. Reminded a few participants of a Bdx in character.
Blindverkostung.

Impression only but... I think this was better earlier in its youth (probably me too?). While it still has lots of dusty complexity, the rich power behind the throne (so to speak) is sneaking away and taking the fruit with it. There is still a lovely complexity of cocoa and tar on the palate, and a long mouth-filling finish, but it seems to have lost a step. Low 90s

Dominio de Pingus vertical tasting - Wine tasting dinner (At home): My no. 3 in this vertical tasting of Pingus and Flor de Pingus (after Pingus 2004 and Pingus 2005. Not as complex as these two). I am really surprised. 2004 is an extremely good wine, when you compare it to Pingus it seems inexpensive. However prices are climbing up fast. I understand why. Easy to drink but can probably develop further in the bottle if you prefer more tertiary notes. Personally, I love it as it performs right now

Wine Tasted at Acker Auction (Bowery Hotel - New York, NY): Concentrated black berries on the nose with wonderful sweet spice. Similar profile on palate, but not quite as correspondingly powerful. Best to start, but then ever-so-slightly hollow in the middle. Good now.

We havent come accross this wine for 2 years (this is our last bottle actually). We are not sure if our palate has changed, our interest, or this wine has changed that much.We went from rating it 94 > 96>93>90 in 5 years. Definitely gone is that youthfull rich side of it but still has quite a lot of fruit. The oak is still very much there. Felt on th emedium side, and was not really expressive. Rich dark fruit across. In general it felt low on the complexity side. Maybe its better to approach this younger than older.. felt like a 90 wine.

Saturday wines: Ripe and modern, but with enough savoriness to keep it from being cloying, though still fairly tannic so I would be inclined to let it rest a few more years.

Notes of dark fruit, coffee and red fruit with vanilla overtones. Tannins are integrating nicely and flavors of vanilla and red fruit linger through the finish. Has a meaty undertone.

Opened with Allred, Lostverse and our wives with the main course during our "wild" themed dinner. Served with a trio of sliders. An elk slider with duck pastrami, English Gloucester cheddar, a fried quail egg and ramp mustard; a venison slider with goat gruyere, pickled ramps and a wild chantarelle aioli; and, a wild caught salmon slider with a creamy dill sauce and micro greens. My only bottle. Double decanted 4 hours before dinner. Only lightly sedimented. Blackish red color. Meaty nose. Firm tannins. Notes of kirsch, cocoa, asphalt and ripe berries. An old world styled wine. Rich texture with ripe but integrated tannins. Long simmering finish. 95-96 points.

This has integrated quite nicely, keeping its coffee and smoke over the blackberry fruit and dried flowers on the nose, but deepening in its savory character in the mouth: roasted meat, black plum and berry with a bit of green olive. Still plenty powerful, and giving a long, rich finish. Tannins are nicely integrated at this point. Can probably still go another 10 years. Delicious. I feel like a should have saved it even though I still have a few bottles cellared.

decanted one hour. deep, dark red, garnet at rim; opulent olfactory impression : sweet, intense mulberry, blackberry, charred oak, cocoa powder; full-bodied; rich, ripe palate impact but neither cloying nor syrupy, extracted black berry & plum fruits, charcoal & granite, voluptuous w/sweet fine tannins & decent acidity. second of six, purchased on release, my guess is most enjoyable at this stage & through the next five years.
grilled leg of lamb, olive jus; farro salad w/wax beans, chioggias & basil; arugula w/gaeta olives, feta & sungold tomatoes
Rioja, Ribeira en Toro (@ Dordrecht): Beautiful bouquet with dark forest fruits and some sweet impressions. On the palate a concentrated wine with a lot of good spiciness, herbs, vanilla, red and dark forest fruits, fresh acidity and good tannin. Still in the beginning of its mature life. Beautiful wine.

Impression only, took on vacation and posting note a little late. Really good wine that has either leaned out over the last year, or I've got some bottle variation. This bottle resonated with me a touch more; still young but not as glyceriney (?) as one last year. Rich tar on the nose with something like dark chocolate raspberry ganache on the palate. A big wine, not delicate, but very tasty.

Memorial Day Cabin Dinner; 5/25/2013-5/26/2013 (Cleveland, GA): Decanted 1 hour. Milk chocolate, as with Quik mixed in, petroleum-meets-paraffin, chocolate-covered cherries, campfire smoke, distant truffle/mushroom on the nose. Palate is less evolved than the nose, firm acid, red and black cherry, leathery, tobacco leaf nuances, rawhide, chalky mineral, and dried herbs on the palate. The strong oak is still apparent but has integrated considerably in the last few years. Still needs another year or two for the acidity to relax into the frame of the wine.

Had one of these on release 6 years ago, thought it had potential and bought a few more - was a good choice I think but still has a way to go. Nice rich nose with a hint of tempranillo funk, not overly expressive. On the palate, takes a while to tease out all the flavors; they tend to the rich, earthy and purple. After a couple hours' air, there is a note of glycerine sweetness that is a little distracting. Still tannic, the atringency isn't dry, and the long finish is pretty "heavy", almost like it sticks to the roof of your mouth, not tapering off gently like a more classic old world wine would.
As an aside - I didn't know RP had given this 97 until I saw the TN just before this one; it doesn't surprise me, this seems like the kind of wine Parker would rave about, and I don't disagree that it's a good wine but for MY palate, a little less heavy-handedness would increase my pleasure drinking it. I'll stay with the 94 I gave it in early 07

Decanted for 45 minutes or so. Useful as the nine needs a bit of time to "relax" and open. Quite dark in colour, very youthful. On the nose, it has notes of ripe dark fruits, light floral, light spice. The oak is present but complements the wine and is not out of sync. On the palate it is well round, lush, with ripe fruit from start to finish, rich, dark fruits. The tannins are well round and silky and barring some dryness on the finish this is really enjoyable well made wine. We would have loved to see some more layers and complexity. Good life ahead but not sure how much better it gets. 93

Decanted for 1.5hrs, slowly opened up from start to finish This was a full bodies, with high acidity to balance the rich darkness of it, very dark, concentrated, oak spice, fruit was hidden behind a wall of just dark, glimpses of floral notes but at the end of the day very disappointing, the finish wasnt refined just big almost roasted dark meat but not meaty
Conc: Disappointing was expecting so much more especially at this price point, I have one more bottle and really will just sit on it for a while and see what happens,

Pingus & Family (Roberson Wine, South Ken, London): 100% Termpranillo. Dark red in colour. Floral nose, minty notes. Lush wine, long with lots of fruit ( again high on the extraction) . Good weight on the palate. Not as expressive/complex as last time we tried it although that could well be our palate evolving away from the style. Still a very good wine and one we would enjoy. 92 Andreas / 94 Nicol so 93. Lots of life ahead of it too.

From 750ml. Opened 2 hours before serving. Colour is thick, dark and inky. Very dense and like pouring oil. On the nose jammy fruits with intense blackcurrant and shot throng with vanilla. A huge mouthful of a wine, very complete and with a good length of finish. Perhaps too much of a mouthful for me and I preferred the elegance and earthiness of the 95 Vieux Chateau Certan served alongside it. Palate is all blockbuster black fruits and some balancing tannins. Think of a Beaucastel on steroids, with less grape complexity and you won't go far wrong. Despite the high 14.5% alcohol it's not especially hot on the palate but it is heady to drink. Be careful with your food matching as it will swamp anything delicate; even pheasant was a little overwhelmed. Thanks to James Parsons for bringing it along!

Maybe there is something wrong with me. I read the notes of other tasters and wonder if what I have is counterfeit Flor de Pingus. This is the second of two bottles on the second night. I did not write on the first bottle because I spent $100 on it from Zachys and felt like a fool. This bottle reminds me of a Malbec I had 15 years ago at a now-defunct New York restaurant that reminded me of coal oil-except that I have never drunk coal oil and thus don't really have a baseline experience to be reminded of. This bottle of Flor de Pingus reminds me of the first bottle I opened, which reminds me that I am sorry I have six bottles of the 2005. Forty-five days ago Sigels in Dallas has a tasting of Spanish wines and I bought recent vintages of Finca Dofi and Numanthia, but after tasting the current release of Flor de Pingus, I passed. This wine smelled like barnyard funk last night and it has not opened any further tonight. There may be fruit somewhere, but I cannot smell any, though I do get a strong impression of alcohol on the nose. It's dark stuff in the glass, deep purple through and through. Its only redeeming qualities are on the palate where it doesn't taste half as bad as it smells. No doubt it's a big wine, but big in oak, alcohol and astringency. The finish makes you wonder how can I get that taste out of my mouth. Brush your teeth extensively after drinking because it will stain them. Maybe it needs a two day decant, but none of the note writers said so. I hate to be uncharitable, but..... I am saving some for tomorrow night, because I can't stand to drink it all tonight, and will update this note if anything changes.

A real powerhouse that would benefit from another seven years in the cellar! Seemingly unchanged since release, the 2004 Flor de Pingus is deep purple/red with an almost overwhelming nose that shows very rupe plumy fruit, oaky vanilla and toffee, dark and a bit brooding. On the palate I'm struck by a green-olive tapenade tone that actually runs slightly towards the bitter end of the spectrum; with an hour and a half of air this faded somewhat, so decant if you serve this. Otherwise very richly flavored and quite a long finish with noticable minerality. Would merit a higher score from me were it not a big overoaked.

Dark, garnet-brown. Heavily oaked, but attractive nonetheless. Overwhelming chocolate syrup on the nose, smoke, black licorice, and green pepper/herb nuances. Rich, silky mouthfeel. Falls away toward the finish; perhaps this will improve with a bottle age. Still, an excellent wine.

Blind. Decanted 1 hour. Great looking; Dense, thick and with a blackish core, starting to mature at the edge, 90;81. Soft and jammy nose but getting a bit tired. Rich mouthfeel and very good balance, sweet and good bright acidity and a quite tannic finish. On the palate it has some very good aspects of black currant fruit but sometimes it comes across as a touch watery. Very good and long aftertaste with anise and violets.

Brought from my cellar to Amada in Philly. Popped cork at home and had it opened for 2 hours. Plum purple in color with nose of blueberry, leather and earth. Drunk with a variety of tapas. Started out slowly and slightly disappointing with mostly mineral, leather and herbs. By second glass, now opened 4 hours, nose and palate started to shine with floral elements on the nose and sweet fruit (blackberry and plum) on a velvet palate. Ready to drink with no tannin nor oak. Will give remaining bottles a good four hour decant before drinking, and then I think several points higher. A very nice wine.

Decanted for two hours. Deep purple color. Aromas of spiced plums, smoke, leather and toasty oak. Very ripe fruit in the mouth with great texture and depth. The huge extract swallowed up almost all the oak and tannins in this wine. The wine culminated with a fabulous, long, lingering sweet finish. This was my WOTN and elevated the horseradish crusted standing rib roast that it was paired with.

Needs 2 hours in a decanter before the true greatnes of this wine shows. Drinking well now and will last you 10yrs++ Once the tannins mellow out ( after 1.5hrs at least) you have a unique gem in your hands. This does not deserve second wine status and i can only imagine how the Pingus will taste.
Big wine with big finish, powerful on the nose. We all like its balance of strength and elegance. Multi dimensional and complexc i can go on and on here..A modern Great!

Had over the weekend. The characterization I had made earlier in the year of "liquid oak" I certainly did not feel was substantiated at this time. In fact, probably the most giving and "open" expression of Flor that I have yet to taste. I didn't quite feel that the oak had totally integrated yet so maybe I will wait a year before giving the next bottles a go. But certainly showing much more fruit character in the past. Very much enjoyed.

A big wine. Very primary and needed some air to unwind but certainly accessible now. Maybe it's just me, but while this wine was well made, I did'nt taste the tempranillo or the underlying sense of place. It might as well be a modern style claret or a super tuscan.

Wonderful density of pure fruit, with power and grace, but lacked nuance and the oak stuck out even after a 2 hour decant. More layers and complexities by the last glass, with chocolate in addition to the dark berry fruit. Pretty clear that it wasn't showing its best, whether due to bottle variation or youth. 91+

Again, a fabulous wine. Wish I cases. Was in a blind tasting with other ribera del duero and priorat wines. Blew them away, including a RP 98 pointer. Dark, very smoky, leather nose. In the mouth, intense smoky characteristic with rich dark berry fruits, meaty typical tempranillo elements, but not over-extracted. Smooth tannins and great balance. Very rich and drinking perfectly now. Really terrific.

A fantastic bottle! Still a bit young but approachable and wonderful. At first, it stylistically, it tasted new world however with some time in the decanter it started to evolve into a more old world Spanish wine. Will taste another in a year.

Meaty and soy-like over the fruit on the nose; oak and vanilla begin to come out more the more I bury my nose in it. Big, deeply concentrated fruit and licorice with more oak on the palate but somehow without the intense weight I would expect. BIG boy...tannin is definitely present but not overwhelming or unpleasant. Nice acidity. Wish I had it with food. It's a young linebacker, big for his age, doing ballet....Big intensity but nicely balanced.

Meesook's good bye and good luck dinner. Popped out the cork and leave it for 3 hours without decanting, which was a big mistake. Do NOT uncork or decant it. A huge vanilla smell went away really fast, and shifted to next phase. If you want to enjoy this one, open and serve it immediately. Even without initial good smell, this one is very silky and smooth (92 pts).
4 days later, this remaining bottle tastes amazingly good with nice acidity. I can give 94 pts.

This was very nice, yet it needed a good two + hours in the decanter to really open up. Scents of graphite, black & blue fruits, and a light lingering of coffee notes developed into a soft, subtle, almost floral boquet over the evening. In the mouth the tannins were the most obvious initial component that slowly loosened it's grip and lead to flavors of black berries, blueberries, spice cake, and coffee along a plush round finish. A lovely bottle for the money, but I will not be checking back in on this wine until 2011 or later. This will only get better with time sideways.

Creamy and chocolatey with red fruits and plum. A hint of coconut. Coffee on the finish. Delicious but also pretty tannic -- could use another year in the cellar.

Amazing nose. Big, bright and fresh. Cherry and blackberry with just a hint of vanilla, but the oak is so well integrated. On the palate, it is super fresh, bright and juicy. Great cherry juice flavors. Big tannins, but so well integrated and balanced. The finish of white pepper and cherry spice goes and goes. This wine is just seamless. Powerful stuff that will go and go.

Tasted with Qunita Sardonia and Hacienda Montesterio. Definately the most tannic, richly oaked, and massive of them all. But I think that is the poiint. QS being more claret like, Hacienda being more creamy and traditional, and Pingus taking things where they can be taken. Here, sausage with meaty, grippy power. A great wine for $45.

Wineflock - Ribera del Duero 94-01 (Rich's): Group #2, My #2 - Full opaque deep purple/black. Big nose of concentrated mocha olive black fruit with oak notes. Big mouthful of rich ripe oaky black fruit. Good structure and balance here too. Should improve substantially when/if the oak integrates.

Flock: 1994-2001 Ribera del Duero Tasting (Chicago): Dark ruby color. Decadent, wow nose is full of cocoa beans, coffee, black cherry, toast and tar. Delicious flavors ensue on the palate with rich black and red fruits, coffee and minerals. Rich fruit is balanced with nice acidity. Long, flavorful finish. Totally delicious. My #1, Group #2.

GoP 4.8 - Wines of Chateauneuf-du-Pape (with a little detour) (Extra Space, Singapore): Pure infanticide, so I am going to rate this on potential as much as anything else. Nose was all oak at first - I could not get pass the candied coconut tones. I put the glass aside, waited for awhile, came back to it, still coconutty. At the third try, it began to show plum and mocha flavours, and the more familiar Tempranillo accents of slightly stinky earth and lovely smoke and cigar scents. Very classy on the palate, which was dense, and yet very refined and beautifully balanced with a fine tannin and clean acid structure. The oak was extremely dominating on the palate as well, with plum flavours lurking underneath and puffs of smoke emerging as we ended the nigt. Super long finish with a meaty aftertaste. I found the wine very modern compared to the more traditional Rioja style and very rich indeed, with intense, concentrated flavours waiting to explode at some time in the future. Patience is much advised.

Tasting Group Dinner - Spain (Solera, Minneapolis): Rich and primal, showing jammy, intense dark plum/blackberry fruit, strong oak, coffee/espresso, and black licorice flavors. Huge, ultra-ripe tannins. Super-long finish. Very promising, but way too young and tough to evaluate in this context. Judgment reserved.

Seems to actually get darker in the glass. Opaque black with a brightness at the edge. Nose shows smoke, barbecue smoke from two feet away; meat, blood, iodine, low notes of dark fruit, and more saline; insanely concentrated on the palate, more of everything noted earlier; tons of tannin but with fruit and acid to compensate; long long finish; clearly a very well made, concentrated wine but I'm not sure it's much fun today; do not touch for several years or decant for hours; lots of possible upside...or maybe not...

Excllent when first popped. Dark purple, good nose (somewhat closed initially) of deep, dark fruit, vanilla and tar. Burst of fruit on front and mid palate, nice long finish, complex. While the nose improved over decanting time, the taste actually closed down some becoming a bit less complex. Serious tannins on the finish. My guess is this score is low, but it needs years to open up.

Bacchus blindtasting (Lasses appartment): Tight black center with a purple rim. Very concentrated, intense aromas of roasted coffee beans, espresso, black berries, licorise and a hint of vanila. The nose seems more closed than I remembered it from last tasting, but with some air it came around very nicely. Blueberry, blackberry and prunes on the palate, very intense and forward. Licorise and dark chocolate on the midpalate, and ending sweet with fruit and vanila. The powerfull tannins are very nicely integrated. Superb wine, but it needs air or even better keeping.

Decanted around 45 mins before serving. Dark, dark black ruby in color with a nose of wood, caramel , coffee, more wood, and blackfruits. A great depth of fruit and minerality, and tons of structure, but a baby and infanticide for sure. I believe this as potential, but man was this waaaay toooooo young. 91++

Just amazing. A relatively inexpensive bottle for this quality. Incredible, rich, lots of fruit, oaky nose, sweet vanilla and milk chocolate flavors, some tobacco notes. Deep purple color. Luscious mouthfeel. I liked this so much I actually opened two bottles two successive days. They were identical. A home run!

Decanted for an hour. Lush, powerful, opulent. Deep, dark flavors of espresso and blackberry. Impeccable balance, especially considering the unbelieveably lush concentration of flavors that leap out from the wine. The ridiculously long finish and superb mouthfeel set this apart.

Spanish wines (FOF): Deep black, red color, with a thin purple rim. Intense nose jumps out of the glass, with tobaco, fruit and farm yard - lots of personality in these aromas. Similarly it is huge on the palate, it imidiately fills the mouth with lots of fruit and tastes from the oak. The taste stays in the mouth forever, insane! This has all the power and structure one could wish for, yet it somehow remains extremely elegant. Surprising and wonderful.

Over oaked, and I enjoy Rioja and Ribera del Dueros more than many Priorat wines. Very young, but a couple of hours of decanting will make it accessable. Huge nose of coconut cream pie and even some nutty/mapley notes...probably from the oak. Unfortunately the fruit is nowhere near as sweet or evidant as the nose may suggest. The medium body savory dark berry fruit are crushed by an over bearing oak, and finally drowned out by a extraordinarily smoot but imense tannin. This is a sleeper, and shouldn't be touched for several years. My girlfreind said, 'this is GOING to be something very special'.

Camille's notes. The Thunder Show Aug. 26. Decanted 5 hrs. Dark purple color. Nose of coconut, smoky meat, currant, black fruits, creamy vanilla, anise. Could smell this for hours. On the palate, great silky black fruits, vanilla, coconut, anise and smoky meats. Super complex with already approachable tannins. Great with hoisin marinated pork tenderloin. 96-97 pts. Camille's guess, La Turque.

Decanted 1 h. Colour: dark, black-purple Bouquet: intense sweetness and vanilla from oak. Way to much for me but it disappears gradually over the next hour. Still there is intense sweet notes, toast and chocolate. Initially also a little spirit note at the end, disappears after a while. The wine develop more cool notes over the next couple of hours, which i find more attractive. Taste: Again sweetness from the oak, intense dark berries that almost disguise the tannins which are surely there. Quite classic tempranillo. A little short at the end for a wine in this pricerange, but over time when the tannins softens the wine gets more balanced. Still quite ok the 2. day. A little to heavy for me and not in perfect balance, but objectively wellmade. I will however but my money elsewhere...

Tester bottle to decide on further purchase; decanted maybe 20 mins before dinner. Very dark red color, nose not very expressive but notes of purple fruit. On the palate, tight, but rich swirl of flavors including cranberry, smokey spice and tart plum. Fairly tannic but it doesn't hit you until late in the moderatly long finish. Going to get more as this should age really well.

Beautiful wine. Smooth with a lot of coffee/espresso. Concentrated with a fairly dark profile, nice sweet baking spices, and dense sweet tannins. Full and packed, but not a new styled fruit bomb. Multi-dimensional. A little hot. This wine has a really nice floral aspect that I hope and believe will come out as the tannins soften. Needs some time. A-

Heute wieder in brillianter Form. Knackig, saftige Sauerkirsche ohne Ende, toll eingebundenes Holz, weiche im Mund wässernde Tannine. Dazu Bitterschokolade und etwas rauchige Noten. HOLD.

Fantastic!

Delicious. I feel like a should have saved it even though I still have a few bottles cellared.

grilled leg of lamb, olive jus; farro salad w/wax beans, chioggias & basil; arugula w/gaeta olives, feta & sungold tomatoes

This was a full bodies, with high acidity to balance the rich darkness of it, very dark, concentrated, oak spice, fruit was hidden behind a wall of just dark, glimpses of floral notes but at the end of the day very disappointing, the finish wasnt refined just big almost roasted dark meat but not meaty
Conc: Disappointing was expecting so much more especially at this price point, I have one more bottle and really will just sit on it for a while and see what happens,

Wow. Phenomenal nose of espresso, smoke, chocolate, and blackberry, with notes of flowers, olive, and meat. Full and rich in the mouth, black fruit, espresso, and olive make a return showing. Great tannic structure. This is a beautiful, powerful, complex wine. Loved it.

Light sweet and floral elements, Perfumy. Perception of lightness was because of Alban Syrah just prior. tasted through the Alban to get a true perception of this wine. Great Tannic structure acid integration and focus of fruit. Beautiful wine.

Decanted 1 h.
Colour: dark, black-purple
Bouquet: intense sweetness and vanilla from oak.

Very young wine but nicely balnced. Rich dark fruits on the nose with a touch of smoke and a little barnyard nose. Some complained about the barnyard smell but did not bother me. I guess with some time that will reside and you will get nothing but joy. Excellent bottle.
