Pale gold with a green tinge, MdeT volume of honeyed fruit on the nose but still youthful under its Stelvin seal. More honeyed fruit on the palate, waxy texture, saline finish, crystalline mineral, it’s a delicious Chablis with a touch of white pepper to the finish 18.5.

Clear yellow color Plenty of tipicity. Oystershells and saline on nose. Again more seashell, wet stone on palate. Suberb acidity, medium to lean bodied. Pretty much a textbook, classic chablis from a great vintage.
Surprisingly rich in a way I don’t always expect from MdT, but beautifully poised with lemon-lime fruit wrapped around a very stony core. Just entering its window, imho. The second 14 Michel pc I’ve opened recently, and both have been solid. Amazing how modestly priced they were back in the day.

Out of 375. Another excellent bottle showing great Chablis typicity - mineral, fresh sea breeeze and citrus zest. Love to see the Diam cork on these. Wish I had more; love the wine and the format.

Seattle Chevaliers taste 2014 whites: Pretty typical Chablis, seashell moving to a steely and austere palate, pretty classic. It was clean, pleasant but not too exciting.

Classic, youthful Chablis. Excellent cut. Strong acid. Lemons, salt, seashell, minerality. Just a touch of maturity showing now - a hint of almond coming through. But this is really super with tons left in the tank.

Medium yellow. Ripe citrus and musky sea scents. Medium weight, beautiful texture. Succulent lemon, herb and iodine, solid but not screaming acidity, outstanding length. This just keeps marching along and providing great pleasure. No signs of losing its freshness or slowing down.
The next day the fruit was toned down and salinity came up.

Oyster shell, citrus pith, and chalk on the nose. It's mid weighted and coming along toward maturity. It has lost some of its youthful chiseled and toothsome nature and has grown in breadth with more oyster shell with an almost briny feel to it. It's chalky and a little nutty, with some honeyed notes in the background that emerge with air time. The palate has more orchard fruit that adds to the citrus. Excellent balance. Drinking very well right now, but I have to admit I loved the electric freshness of its youth a bit more. 91

A complex bouquet of greengage, oatmeal and chalk is repeated on the palate. Like licking wet pebbles the fruit has a searing steely spine of acidity yet is softened with a butter coating. It’s not overly fruity it’s just simply thrilling, zingy and perfectly poised. Dryness is offset with a hint of sweetness and the finish is just everlasting. Divine and the reason I love Chablis 1er Cru. 93 pts
Surprisingly ripe, full and weighty. Short of opulent but quite round for Chablis. Cut with lovely acid and mineral which ties it together nicely. Green and yellow apple. Clean, little wood. Some flint and chalk. Bright. Very pleasant.

This deserved notes, but did not get them. There was a pleasant honeycomb, great mineral core, citrus zest, some stone fruit? I think there is buried material in here. I've got another bottle I want to keep my hands off for four more years or so.

My last of 6 half bottles. This one was probably the best, showing very clean, without a hint of oxidation.
Bottled under Diam10, it pours a pale yellow color. Notes of pear and river rock, with fresh acidity. For me though, it’s a bit simple and a tad dilute. Still, for an $18 bottle, you could do far worse, and I blew through these in the past year and a half. Those holding should continue to do so comfortably.
Citrus, apples, herbal notes, and just a hint of oak on the nose. Lovely acidity with lemon oil, granny smith apple, and minerals on the palate. Nice finish. Consistently lovey wine and great QPR!

5th of 12 bottled under Stelvin seal. Pale green gold with a citrus nose: lemon oil, tangerine and sea spray. The beginnings of salty honey and seashells on the palate. Richer flavour and more pulpy texture than I expected from the bouquet but delicious. No rush to open these. I love Stelvin.

This bottle felt a touch advanced as the usual concentration and energy of 2014 MdT was lacking and the flavors were starting to show some honey-ing. Hope its just an anomaly.

Patio Chilling at Tilia (Tilia, Mpls): Light gold color. Drank a glass plus over an hour. Drank this in a flight with a 2014 La Chablisienne 1er Cote de Lecchet. The Michel MdT had slightly more color with a richer nose, ocean spray, fennel, just a little damp earth, lemon and mineral. The palate was a little more round, still good acid, but less than you might expect from the vintage; lemon, tart, lots of dry stone and some lemon rind. The La Chablisienne had more zip, brightness and the crisp acidity you'd expect, so more prototypical. Both very good.

Brought to a restaurant, shared with friends. Light gold hue to the color, lots of oyster shells, lemon pith, sea spray, bits of yellow apple. Acids were present and pleasant but this had a slight roundness to it. Overall pretty strong representation of what we love about Chablis.

From 375. Pop and poured. Drunk over a couple hours. Light golden in color. A fresh nose with oyster shell, chalk, citrus, brine and subtle white flowers. It's chiseled and toothsome on the palate, with plenty of dry extract delivered with grace. I love its acidic spine, but it might be shrill for some. It's intense but not overbearing, with more oyster shell, steel, chalk, and citrus on the palate with some orchard fruit and florals. It's beautiful balanced and detailed, with an admirable degree of clarity and focus. Drinks like mineral water. It has come together some since my last bottle. Outstanding and then some. 93

From .375, the best bottle of a half case so far. This was pale and youthful, nice mid weight concentration, and plenty of cut on the ginger/lime fruit notes. Disappeared quickly. Well stored bottles have miles to go. And 0/5 have had signs of early oxidation from my small sample

In the 3+ years since I last tasted this the wine has evolved dramatically: there is more substance and added dimension everywhere. On the nose it's chalkier and less citric, still a bit reticent. The palate is much weightier, all in a good way with ramped up stoniness while the lemon-like punch is undiminished. Long, full finish. Not sure I 'got' this wine at age 3 but now I do.

From 375, tight in all dimensions but showing promise. Color is perfect. Lemon, curd, and sea breeze on the nose; citric palate not yet fleshed out; evident minerality; abbreviated finish; needs time to knit. Will wait 6 months+ before cracking another. IMO, no rush at all.

I've gone through a bunch of this in .375. All have been nice--balanced, expressive Chablis--but a bit generic. This one was the best yet. It has unfurled and become more expressive, more mineral, and more precise. Not grand or even great, but really quite good and a great bargain for what I paid.

Steely, oyster shell, saline, citrus pith, and chalky on the nose. Midweighted, toothsome with a density without heaviness. Steely with great cut and precision on the palate; it's chalky, with more oyster shell, citrus and apple fruit. More geologic than fruit driven. Tactile density yet mouthwatering freshness. Outstanding.

Coravin. Medium golden; medium aromatics, salinity, lemon-lime; palate is full bodied, medium-plus nice acidity, tangy citrus throughout, medium alcohol; medium finish. Classically made Chablis, good QPR and overall an excellent white burgundy. For QPR and overall enjoyment though, the Vaillons in 2014 is my pick of the litter, though this is maybe the most serious out of the lineup. 91-92

A very classic minerally, rainy pavement Chablis. There is just a touch of wet straw around the edges so it's starting to show it's age slightly. The minerality is strong and lengthy. Not a lot of complexity here, yet. It certainly won't hurt to keep these around a few more years to watch for some blossoming. Plenty of acid and medium fruit density. Very nice.

Coravin. Golden-green; medium intensity aromatics with minerals, pear, saline, citrus; palate is medium-full bodied with excellent but not overpowering acidity, salinity, and still a touch of richness, medium complexity and depth, balanced medium alcohol; solid medium to medium-long length finish. Love this Chablis. If this was the only Chablis I ever drank from here on out I'll be fine. Complex, crisp looong finish. Love the nice grapefruit bite at the end. A rainbow of flavors from the citrus world, sours, bitter, sweet, crisp. Green crisp grapes, crisp green apples. That said it's not a sour wine acidic wine. Love it. Every bottle I've drank so far (11) have been better than the one before.

Pale straw color and a helliva nose of like blossoms, lemon curd, and sea breeze. The palate is medium bodied with lime, saline, and a creamy roundness that I like in Tonnerre. The acidity is well judged for the fruit. Not the fullest or most complicated, but this is much better than most $30 Chablis.

Pale gold color. Good concentration and balance with a stony minerality and typical salinity and citrusy mix. Maybe not in the same league as some of favorite producer's version of MdT but, a rock solid example of Chablis at a nice, more AOC like, $25 price point. 13% alc and my go to pairing with trout.

Fleshy and rich with loads of seeet lemon and salt air. Some MtD herbalness, but that is in the background at the moment. I can see where some would like this a lot, but it leans a bit too fat for my tastes. Good to very good

Quince and green apple. Lime flowers and a hint of mint. Notes of crushed rocks are layered in the aromatics. The palate is rich upon entry and almost oily. There is enough tension in the acid and tannins that keeps the wine from being too rich. Very round and fat and a lingering taste of flint. Seems to be richer than other examples of Tonnerre.

Tasty and proper -- but kind of workmanlike. This is a fairly straightforward Chablis but shows nice minerals and lemon citrus. Doesn't have the density I associate with 2014, but it doesn't need to for $14.99 for a .375. Tasty weeknight drink.

This seemed very closed; low nose, virtually no fruit, lots of minerality but austere like river rocks rather than limestone and chalk; this was austere, and very straight forward. Either needs time, or it's just too clean. Does 100% stainless steel make a better wine? No it doesn't. Just a different wine. I much preferred the Billaud Montee de Tonerre. EWG at Bonekettle

Finishes with a minerally, drying texture. Really enjoy this wine, and for $18 USD for a 375, I'm getting a great QPR for a Chablis that is farmed cleanly, not dressed with oak and just drinks pure.

Damn excited about this wine as I bought a 3-pack of this for $30 a bottle from K&L. 2014 Chablis is kind of like my version of Parker's 00, 03, 05, 09 Bordeaux...vintage or in his case, vintages of the century (I really want to put a "wink" right here but don't want the ridicule from friends ;) ). Already disposed of two bottles and was underwhelmed both times. I think my problem was that I drank a 14 BS MdT about two weeks prior and that wine was everything I want in Chablis. This wine, for me, didn't have the je ne sais quoi. Very light in color, not a ton on the nose with no palate impact whatsoever. It possessed a little citrus and steel, which I like, but otherwise the wine just seemed to be there. An introvert at this stage, I guess. I'll give my last bottle a few years and see what happens. 87pts.

La Paulée de New York Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty - New York NY): Tasting, brief note. Nicely floral start with an array of apples and faint peach hints. Bigger and denser vs Forêts or Butteaux, but seemingly backward for right now. I think it has 91-92 point potential, 2020 forward.

Steely, tart citrus fruit with ample (but not screechy) acidity, but also not much of the chalky minerality that makes Chablis so special to me. A little simple, straightforward, and a bit disappointing considering the producer and vineyard.

Chablis raised solely in stainless is not my bailiwick so when I put my nose into the glass of this very pale, clear wine I'll admit my first thought was "something's missing." Lemon and steel. More reticent than a barrel-aged wine. Tasting: bright, tangy, a bit flinty. In the empty glass there's a distinctive note of sweet lemon blossom, very appealing. I do miss a certain roundness and depth, but had no qualms about polishing this off.

Domaine Louis Michel visit (Chablis): Tasted at Domaine. Shows the typical MdT profile at this young age... pale color, light body, almost delicate but with the iodine and sea shell benchmark that I enjoy so much in this wine. A Thursday night at Rich's (Chez Nanda): Nose: The nose is aromatic and focused with white fruits, minerals, pears, white florals, green apples, and some lemon peels. There is medium depth with excellent balance.
Taste: Medium bodied with high acidity. The acidity is youthful and somewhat piercing right now. The feel, while in the medium category, has a leanness to it along with white fruits, pears, green apples, lemon peels, and mineral tones.
Overall: This also showed more towards Chardonnay and white Burgundy. This was on the steely side though it lacked some density that this vineyard can bring. It's drinkable right now, but 2-3 years could well sort it out and balance the acidity a bit.

Served double blind and I was convinced this was Sancerre. Full nose with aromas of sea water, lemon-lime, minerals and a grassy note (which sent me to Sauv Blanc). Palate is uber-crisp and flush with racy acids. Nice length.

Honey Butter Fried Chicken and blinds (Chicago, IL): Served double-blind. Well, this one was pretty embarrassing. Loire sauvignon blanc, I said. Hell, I even thought I picked up a little bit of oak on this. It certainly was grassy, and there was plenty of aniseed and licorice on the nose. Very taut acidity, this didn't have a massive stature, but was lean and focused. Clearly from the last year or two, given its freshness too.

Reticent at first but after an hour the floral nose bursts with lime blossom, sea water, wet stones, and a faint hint of fresh cut hay. Flavors of lemon curd and creamy pacific oysters meld together with this slick almost oily wine. The wine does is not as linear as I like my Chablis, but I will age a few bottles to see how this holds up next to Raveneau and V Dauvissat.

A wine that suggests that 2014 is the best white Burgundy vintage since 2010. Tasty right out of the opened bottled and just as good over the next 5 days. An unmistakable blast of fresh sea breeze greets you at the rim... makes me think of clean sheets on a clothes line near the beach. Subtle and stylish with light lemon cream, citrus flowers, soft pineapple notes, and liquid rock, this shows excellent acidity with commensurate richness. While sure to add depth and nuance with time, this is ever so charming now and displays fascinating poise and complexity for such a youthful wine. Great value!

93 pts

Great value. Nose, lemon, green apple, grapefruit, grilled pineapple, almond paste, flowers, roses, ocean. Drinking grapefruit, meyer lemon, saline, into a mellow white fruit and citrus finish. (375ml)

Not really into this wine. Lacking the cut and acidity that I love in Chablis. This bottle was pretty tight.

Gave this one some air, and it definitely benefited from that. Loads of salinity, crisp, very enjoyable. As with my last bottle, this was a 375.

Fun wine from a split. Very good and totally delicious but does not deliver the minerals that I crave. I typically find the wines from MDT to be more rich and fat and this was in that mold. Benefits from air.

Very lean and crisp, with a profile I associate more with sauv blanc than Chardonnay. Much better with food than alone.

Classic chablis minerality, but with an inner core of fruit creating good balance. Will be beautiful in 3 0r 4 years, but already drinking well.

375 bottle. Maybe a bit young but very good, clean chablis.
Nose and drinking very much the same. Grapefruit, pear, not fully ripe pineapple, green apples, lemon and a little bitter lemon peel. This is a crystal clear and clean chablis. Drank really good 1 minute after open.

Light color and body, but still big on flavor. Salinity, stones and lemon all balanced with good acidity. Drank well immediately upon opening.

From 375, opened y/day to end what was a long, hard day. Split with my wife and she probably drank more of it then me. Finishing last 2 ounces today. Lemon rind along with green apple skin.

87pts.

Steely, tart citrus fruit with ample (but not screechy) acidity, but also not much of the chalky minerality that makes Chablis so special to me. A little simple, straightforward, and a bit disappointing considering the producer and vineyard.

La Paulée Grand Tasting of 2014 Vintage Burgundy (Pier 60, New York): Light color. Salty nose. Lower toned, downplayed fruit, moderate concentration and acidity. Strongly soil-infused finish. Not as impressive today as I have found it before, but still very good (and great value in the U.S.).

Guillaume Michel says it's a wine to keep 10 years. Needs time. This will be superb.

Features a strong, tasty, and refreshing citrus fruit from a pleasantly aromatic nose through a long and lingering finish, along with a lightly caressing texture. Excellent food compatibility.
