Had it with porchetta and maybe not the best match. Intense on the nose with dark fruits and ceder. Full bodied dense red and dark fruits with medium/+ acid and rounded tannins. Good balance with medium lenght.

92/93. PnP. This has aromas of raspberries, flowers, iron fillings, blackcurrants and cassis. Its solid muscular medium bodied nicely oaked blue and red fruits palate has great freshness and end longish, fresh and tapering. 13.5%: Drink now with food or lay down 5-10 years. Superb value at 22 Euros.

Deep ruby Med+ intensity on the nose, dark plum, clove, black pepper, developing. Dry, high acidity, high tannins, full body, med intensity, dark plum, toast, violet, med finish. This bottle is suspected to be a little corked. It’s right at my threshold to be sensed but not 100% sure. The fruit notes is a bit muted when we opened the bottle last night. Tried to decant in the bottle overnight, however, it’s not helpful.
Decanted and drank over two days. Nose somewhat reticent, but fruit and tar are there. Tannin and acidity has settled over the past 10 months leaving black fruit, cut brick/minerality, slightly drying finish. Good on its own and better with food. Will continue to evolve positively. No problem drinking this now, or wait for a year for something even more interesting.

Ok. Im Vergleich scheint mir der 2020er eine Stufe stimmiger, lebendiger, was Frucht, integrierte Tannine und Säurequalität anlangt.

Dark color for bordeaux but light comes thru. Excellent energy on the palate, strong follow thru to a long finish. Berries galore with some vanilla. Very clean and refreshing. Medium tannin and acidity. Well balanced. This drinks well now young, but I suspect the nose will develop more with time. Drink 2024-2040

Deep dark red, little signs of maturity. Nose burst with blue berries, licorice, chassis, a bit oak but still fresh. Nicely balanced dark fruits, espresso and chocolate. Drying tannins and really nice acidity. The note is from a 2nd day slowly oxed bottle. Plenty of years here.

Not a lot going on with the nose here. Mellow dark fruit, plum, vanilla, graphite and tobacco, certainly more earth than fruit aromas. Similar fruit on the palate, medium tannins, decent balance, but lacking precision with the fruit and overall complexity. Had the 2019 a few weeks ago and thought it was two points better. Gave this 5 hours in the decanter, but maybe this needs more time in the bottle.
Update: I am upgrading my score (from 89 to 90). The wine was considerably more open on day 2, more balanced and with refreshing acidity.
P&P’d. Violet color and beautiful dark fruit right at the start. Over the course of two hours, time in the glass revealed some pencil shavings and opened up the medium tannins. Nicely balanced acidity. Not super expressive or complex but I suspect a good hour decant would help with that, which I will do with my next couple of bottles. Unusually merlot driven for left bank. I don’t expect much more development, but certainly this easily has another five or eight years of good drinking ahead. Very pleasing with food and for sipping on its own which bumped it up from 89.5 to a 90. Nice QPR.

I liked this more than the bottle a couple of weeks ago. Fruity, easy drinking, and friendly. I think I am finished buying these though based on the 16 and 18 vintages. That, or I'll stick with vintages more in line with 2014.

I didn’t really enjoy this after the Lanessan. This seemed much riper, richer, and a little hot. I seemed to have enjoyed the previous bottle two years ago, so next time, I’ll try this on it’s own again.

Very dark color. Typical, if rather faint, Bordeaux nose. Surprisingly light on the palate; dark fruit, cigar box, etc., but lots of mineral notes. Not a lot of depth or power, but very balanced, smooth, and elegant. Classy stuff. And built to last,

Nice wine on the drier side of the spectrum. Poured it at a party, didn’t have time to take detailed notes. Dark fruits on the palate with medium+ tannins. Expect this to age gracefully over at least 5+ years. An hour+ of decanting would help. Had it with baked Camembert with Persimmons and rosemary. It paired really well with the baked cheese.

Deep black purple color with blackberry fruit, Asian spices (cloves and cinnamon), and silky smooth tannins. This was not decanted so it took some aeration in our glasses to soften up somewhat. Very nice wine although the length of the finish on the mid to deep palate is limited. This could easily age another 5-10 years.

Had found this to be a tad "thin" in the past, but this opened up beautifully straight away. Chocolate, black fruits and nice tannic grip - medium bodied +. In a great drinking window and am disappointed that this is my last bottle as there is plenty of life left in this. Edit: Bonus - as just discovered I have one more in the cellar. Will hold for a few years.
2nd night notes. Deep carmine-ruby, black core, dense, fast running tears @13.5% abv. . Aromas of black fruit, cedar, dried wood. Dry, medium-medium(+) acidity, medium(+) tannin, medium alcohol and medium(+)-full body. Easy going palate of blackberry, cherry, licorice, pepper, dark chocolate. Loads of freshness ('fraicheur') and crunch, balanced and fruit-driven finish.
Will continue to develop. Cellaring potential another 5-10 years. Will try another one later!

PNP. Plum and meaty notes on the nose, almost like a Syrah. More typical palate, blackberry, black cherry. Dark chocolate on the finish. A bit of a dancing bear, dark and brambly, yet medium bodied, with nice acidity. Approachable and interesting now, with stuffing and structure for another 3-5 years of development. At this price I may go back for more bottles to track its progress.
92/93.Half Bottle. Has characterful aromas of leather ironey coffee infused blueberries, mint and cassis. Its medium bodied freshly fruited nicely oaked chewy blue, red and black fruits palate has lovely depth and length. 13.5%. Needs 8-9 hrs aeration. Lay down 10-20 years+.
Drank over two days. Opened, drank, re-corked - did not decant. Good nose of blackberry, blueberry, some tar, similar fruit on the palate along with some lively tannin, medium acidity. Definitely approachable now, I think will pick up a point or two over the next 2-5 years. A very good QPR even at today's prices. I'll wait another year to open. Drink or hold.

Wine is open, no need to hurry at all. Ripe, juice red and black fruits with some damp earth, cedar wood and tobacco. Well balanced and nice tannin structure. The quite substantial amount of merlot makes it very approachable and fun now. Should have bought more to check its development. Will buy recent vintages by the case as it has a stellar pqr.
Really good complex nose with cassis, mature red and dark berries, licorice and spices. Thogh starting to be rounded the acid and tannnns are still very present and dominstes to much. Will be better integrated within the next 3-4 years. Good concentration of fruit. Some oak notes in the background. I expect this wine to peak in around 2028 or later than that.

Immediately after opening juicy creamy cherry on the nose. Then needs air to develop. Then follows plum, pencil and herbal notes. In the mouth very convincing and of good structure and length with silky robust tannins. Will be fun in the form for a long time and perhaps even better in the next few years.

92/93. Needs 8-9 hrs aeration. Before a 91. Has good aromas of ironey, leathery plums, coffee, flowers and cassis. Its solid yet creamy nicely oaked medium bodied palate has lovely depth, freshness and ends longish. 13.5%. Good QPR at around 25 Euros. Lay down 10-20 years easily. To the same level as the impressive 2009. Give this 5 years and this could be a 94.

Pop and pour. Tasted from a Grassl Cru glass. Dark purple-garnet color. Nose offers dark fruits and hint of spice (oak notes). Some leather and tobacco notes mixing in as well. Good dark fruit - plums and cassis - with fresh acidity. Quite enjoyable.

First bottle of this vintage, and only my second bottle opened from the 2016 vintage (which I own a lot of). Previously owned and consumed the 2009 and 2010 vintages. Decided to pull a cork as I am getting a large quantity of 2018, 2019, and 2020 that are starting to ship. No decant, and allowed the wine to breathe about 45 minutes before the first sip. Very open aromatically when poured, this presents lavender, clove, vanilla, cassis, and lighter notes of smoke and coffee. On the palate this leans a bit flabby and the tannins are fully resolved. On the attack this presents a predominant plum followed by black raspberry. In the mid-palate there is anise, coffee, and a light iodine appearing as this moves into the finish. A reasonable length on the finish where coffee and anise close this out.
I recall the 2009 and 2010 having more lift and vibrancy, particularly at this stage of development, and those vintages seemed to have more structure than I experienced tonight. For the price, this remains a solid wine for early drinking in my opinion, particularly with the high level of merlot. I would drink this through 2025 to enjoy the aromatics and flavor profile while waiting for your 2016-2020 to mature in bottle. Others may find aging this further is warranted, but cellar space is always at a premium and I’m not unhappy with pulling a cork.
After composing my note for the 2016 I went back to review my notes from the earlier vintages noted. My written notes confirm my recollection of structure at this stage with far more noticeable tannin compared to my 2016 bottle.
Storage note - Wine stored in a 55 degree cellar since acquisition as part of an En Primeur purchase.
Back at release I tasted this and knew it was going to go the distance. Now, at year 7, this is barely opening up a bit and starting to get definition and tone. A concentrated and dense appearance shows that this has not leaned out and traded off the fat for nuance. The nose is showing some St. Estephe soil and iron ore, while the palate shows dense blackberry and cassis, with a core of cedar and a hint of meat. The vanilla signature of the maker is also present on the first sip and then gets overtaken by the heft of the wine. This needs another 3 years before being looked at again. Be patient and HOLD
Drank over two days. Decanted with a little bit of sediment in the bottle. The wine was dark purple. Left in decanter for about two hours with a couple of samples tasted under ways. The nose was very closed off in the beginning. After about 90 minutes it began opening up with black fruits and some vanilla coming to the fore. On the palate, delicious black currants, blueberries and herbs started to show. Medium to full bodied, medium acidity and medium tannins and medium length. Very nice wine! Saved a couple of glasses for the next day, drank with home made vegetarian spaghetti bolognese. Wasn’t bad, but not a perfect fit with the meal. The fruit was less present, the tannins more on this occasion. Felt like it has potential to evolve a bit more - I have three more bottles and will probably try the next one in 2-3 years.

Decanted for almost 2 hours. Aromas of blackberry, currant, cherry and iron. Flavors of blackberry, currant, cherry, iron and earth. Ends with notes of iron and blackberry for 20+ seconds. Always a solid Bordeaux for the money.

Score based on potential. Nice earthy wine with black fruit, pepper, tobacco. Mild tannins probably due to the merlot percentage. Decanted 2 hours and it was ready to go. Evolved over the course of the evening. Nice value.

Decanted for 1+ hrs before drinking. Needed time to open up, first few zips the fruit was not coming through. But once it developed it was lovely. Aromas of the graphite soil, with incense, pipe tobacco, black pepper, definitely dominated by spice and earthy notes, maybe a hint of black currant. On the palate the fruit starts to shine through: roasted plum, blueberry compote, leather, tree bark. Med plus tannins, med acid, medium purple appearance. Drinking well now, but definitely could hold up over a few more years

Very high quality wine, typical, recommended now, as it can still be kept for a few years. I did not tasted it younger but I'm sure the few years of evolution put this one in a "smooth" age, as no default was depicted.

Drinking nicely, decanting unnecessary as tannins have calmed, no sediment but some tartrate crystals, nice acidity, fruit seems to be weakening, drink up, I'll be suppressed if it has another 10 years, 89
Drinking perfectly now, although needs several hours breathing to optimize. The Cab seemed the star and standout, even though only 32% of the blend. Year after year, although mass-produced, great QPR for those taken aback by high Bordeaux and Napa prices. Probably at its best between now and end of year 2023. Perfect wine for a grilled steak. Torn between a 90 and 91, went with 90.
Decanted 90 minutes then poured 1/2 glasses before dinner. Nose is completely open for business. Old World nose of red and black fruits. Medium/Full mouthfeel and body. QPR is amazing. Nice flavor layers and structure. Fresh cassis with a long lift. Fine tannins with graphite. Will only improve with more bottle time. This wine is a no brainer for $25-$30. Just buy some. It’s great. Could be 92-93 with more age.

Colour: medium ruby to purple Nose: medium intensity, secondary, youthful. Cassis, red and black plum, black cherry. Blueberry. Gooseberry, blackcurrant leaf. Mint. Bergamot, cinnamon, cedar, cigar box, graphite. Dried orange peel. Medicinal/cough syrup. Palate: youthful, dry, medium(+) acidity, medium(+) tannins, medium alcohol (13,5%) medium bodied. Medium intensity, medium length finish. Cassis, red and black plum, black cherry. Blueberry. Gooseberry, blackcurrant leaf. Mint. Bergamot, cinnamon, cedar, cigar box, graphite. Dried orange peel. Medicinal/cough syrup. Conclusions: very good. A good food wine, but also just delicious and drinkable. Can drink now, but likely suitable for further (short-term) ageing. Seal: natural cork. 62% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot.

Showing better than I remember - was a bargain at about $23. Always a great quality for the price, this particular vintage is a very strong showing. Wish I bought more. Very balanced, has a creamy aspect which I love. 92+pts. Not sure one needs to wait more on this as it's showing so well already.
I was introduced to this wine by a dear wine friend as he recommended this as both an upcoming winemaker, as well as an early drinking and more approachable style of Saint Estephe!
Bro LYL came across for a random wine evening, so we had this Left bank with his Saint-Emilion right bank sharing. Best kind of evenings!
This 2016 Lilian Ladouys is an interesting and quite unique blend (for a left bank!) of 62% Merlot, 32% Cab Sauv, with 6% Petit Verdot too.
Blackberry aromas to start, and after a 1 hour decant, the blueberry aromas were more apparent. The palate is one of cassis, with very interesting menthol at the end of our session (Circa 2 hours after popping).
Medium finish with some spice too, and this is perhaps one which is at least 2-3 years too early. Good at this point in time, but should be better from 2024-2025 onwards.
In terms of value, at between USD 40-50 I would describe this as fair for a Left Bank Bordeaux, and despite coming across as rather dry and slightly austere, I think it simply needs a bit more bottle time.
I was surprised that the history of Chateau Ladouys goes as far back as 1654, after it changed ownership a number of times before it became dilapidated in the 1900s.
Christian and Lilian Thieblot started modernising the estate in this era, and in fact in honour of Lilian Thieblot the Chateau was renamed to Chateau Lilian Ladouys in 1989.
More recently, in 2007, Jacky and Françoise Lorenzetti acquired the estate for yet another newer era of this much improved estate.

From a 750ml bottle bought at retail. Reductive and unexpressive upon opening; however, two hours in the decanter cleared out the sulfur and brought on the red and black fruit and a touch of leather.
Medium-bodied. Not particularly concentrated. No problem with alcohol integration as with earlier bottles, though. Grippy tannins, as one would expect, but very good balance. Had more or less fallen apart on day two.
I want to love this wine, but I can’t say I do. I used to worry the alcohol would always be unbalanced. Time seems to have sorted that. It’s definitely moving in the right direction, but it doesn’t excite me in any way. At the same price in my market, I’d rather have another case of 2015 Potensac. 13.5% ABV (good; average; simple/**/15/88)

Mordern Left Bank. Elegant style due to lots of Merlot. The Cab is still present. Well balanced and good lenght. Drink now but will also be interesting to see how it develops the coming years.
5 years ago I had 2010 vintage and I complained about weak smell. And this time the story repeat itself. We have weak aromas of black currant, blackberry black cherry minerals. Not too bad, but without muscles. Elegant? Maybe... Taste - smooth ( too smooth for me). Texture - silky ( too silky for me) Flavors - a lot of them ( too polished for me). Fortunately - finish is, where the action is ( is this phrase correct in English?). Loooong one. Crazy tannins with drop of acidity are surrounded with black and red fruits, minerals, black pepper, spice, and who knows what else.
Warning: tannins will remain longer than anything else, but remember this is St.Estéphe juice. 🕐⏰🕤 Second day of drinking - everything stays the same except tabacco that is all over the place both in smell and flavors. And it's strong! I don't see, that tannins are weaker then yesterday. My nice brought me spicy Hungarian salami and...I feel good with this pairing. 👍🍷😎🎼🎶🎵🎶🎶

Very good for it's level. Decanted about 1 hour prior to drinking and went well with food (steak). Classic Bordeaux notes but with a slight modern twist. Some of the classic Bordeaux notes of cedar, leather, graphite but with a hint of that sun kissed fruit that reminds me of Napa. This probably helped the wine as it is quite young.

Hothouse floral notes above henhouse floor intrusion. A rich ripe concentrated wine, as noted by most previous tasters, serious tannic structure wrestling the ripe fruit. Acid balance?, agree with the observation "sweet" but to avoid charges of slandering a Bordeaux, I'll say blowsy. A big ripe kiss which becomes slobbering with a lollipop lipstick aftertaste. Some like zaftig even in wine.

92/93. Up to the same level as the plush 2009. Has full aromas of ironey blackberries, coffee'd plums, mint and cassis. Its medium bodied full and spherical, plush coffee'd ironey black, blue and red fruits palate has lovely depth and freshness. Ends long, fresh and tapering with nice gripping tannin. Needs 6-9 hrs aeration. Lay down 10-20 years+. Superb value at 24 Euros. 13.5%.
2nd of 24. Still quite closed, drank over 3 hours. Tannins are dominating even then. I found it surprising that it is made of 62% Merlot and 32% Cabernet Sauvignan (and 6% Petit Verdot). I would have assumed that the ration of Merlot and Cabernet are otherway round. A very lovely wine. I will have the next one next winter, lets see how it develops. Lilian Ladouys can go a long way. I had a bunch 20 years old 1/2 bottles and they still going strong.

Super glas vin!

In half bottle, this is delicious now for a polished, fruit forward claret. A few more years will allow the real complexity to arrive, but right now there's good blueberry and blackcurrant fruit and a lovely line of cedar.

(6/24/21) From a half bottle purchased from a local retailer. Showing worlds better than my last half bottle in October 2020. Good concentration in this one, with plenty of cedar and primary red fruits showing on the nose and in the palate. The alcohol was poking out a bit on the finish, but otherwise, the balance was good and the tannins were nice and ripe. 13.5% abv. (***/15/89)
Served by the glass. Elegantly aromatic on the nose with a spicy touch. Gentle and soft, fine even in the mouth. In short, complete and very enjoyable from now on. Unable to be considered a worthy representative of its appellation, recommended.
Servido por copas. Elegantemente aromático en nariz con un golpe especiado. Amable y suave, fino incluso en boca. En resumen, completo y muy disfrutable desde ahora mismo. Sin poder ser considerado un digno representante de su apelación, recomendado.
Hit and miss. At times as good as any other enjoyable house Bordeaux....other times it is tight and uneven without the needed structural and flavor complexity

This is a very good and savoury red Bordeaux wine that is easily accessible and approachable even at this age. The nose is marked by the typical Médoc aromas of blackcurrant and pencil. The taste is medium/full-bodied, pleasant and fruity, displaying lovely flavors of blackcurrant, ripe dark plums, pencil, violet and tobacco. The relatively large proportion of Merlot (62%) is felt here. I wish that I had more than 1 bottles left!

Vinturi-decanted and thoroughly enjoyed over the ensuing three hours, this deep ruby blend of 62% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot proved itself to be well worthy of its modest sticker price. Aromatic, beautifully balanced and restrained in just the right way, it delivers an attractive payload of black currants, tart cherries, pencil shavings and dried herbs. Medium-to-full-bodied, fresh, appropriately oaked and with unnoticeable alcohol (13.5%), it stays dense on the mid-palate and closes with a lengthy finish that carries some tannic grip. Give it a couple of years in the cellar to buff its edges. Drink 2023-2030.

I have found myself buying 2 to 3 cases of this wine from every good vintage. While I wouldn’t call this style old school Bordeaux, they seem to have found a knack for capturing the essence of saint estephe with a modern twist. And while I can’t describe the 2016 in detail due to its youth, It’s quite obvious that the 2016 is very gather worthy and especially so at these prices. I double down on saying that this is the biggest LL I’ve tasted to date and I would highly recommend this as an introduction to Bordeaux with a 3 to 5 year dark sleep. HOLD
The thing about this wine is how representative it is of St. Estephe, at a $24 price level. This is one of the best Bordeaux QPRs out there. Classically "pure" St. Estephe ruby color, like a combination of Lafon Rochet, Lafite, and Cos d'Estournel. Great spicy finish. When you combine 2016 + St. Estephe you can't go wrong. I bought a case at like $23 per bottle.
Carafé car très jeune. Tannins serrés et fermes. Fruits noirs et acidité suffisante. Délicieux déjà et après 2 heures de sirotage montre son grand potentiel. J’adore ce vin. Valeur sure.

QBR wine from SE CB. Though can be aged further to mellow down the tannin. But not much diff in taste after aged. It’s already shown it true potential. If I am to describe Margaux as an elegant lady with its demure character, st estephe will be like a gentlemen with confident with it body texture. Firm and showing finess in the bodied with balance acidity and alcohol and medium finish. SE has become my current favorite for Bordeaux wine.

Took a gamble on these after reading some wonderful reviews of recent vintages and it was well worth it! Beautiful round merlot fruit filled with bright cherry and red currant. Deep ruby. No hint of purple. Delicate bouquet of black currant, cedar wood and hint of vanilla. Very dry on the palate, medium acids and tannins, but at the same time remarkably smooth in the mouth. Some fruit came through on the aftertaste, and it was more evident with food, but generally the fruit failed to come through from the bouquet to the palate. Shame

(10/17/20) This bottle was approachable and enjoyable—it’s no sin to pop a cork now—but surprisingly, it was not as good as the bottle I had eight months ago. The tannins were more civilized here and not so chalky and the balance was better, but this bottle seemed to be a bit thin behind all the tannins. It’s early days, though. It could simply be a case of bottle variation. Let’s see what happens in another year; 13.5% abv. (***/15/88)
Very nice St Estephe wine. Not overly extracted, but quite well balanced. Mostly Merlot which explains the fleshy texture. It will not be mistaken for a traditional St. Estephe wine, but in today's context it's very well made. It's also a step up from where this estate was 25 years ago, when I last tasted their wine.
Good nose with cassis, herbs and spices. Medium acid, medium+ relativly smooth tannins. Expect they will be further integrated and fully developed within the next year or two.

A big gulp of juicy, peppery, ripe, sweet red fruits, cassis, hints of dark cocoa, licorice and cigar wrapper gets everything started. The right amount of freshness and tannic bite give this winner structure, a backbone for aging and round textures to smooth everything out. 5-7 years in the cellar will add a lot more to the experience. And the best part is, the wine sells for a song! It is worth buying by the case
Closed nose, good balance of black fruits and tannins. Medium bodied. Was a tad ''thin" initially but it became more rounded with time. Blackcurrants and plums. Best on day 2. Needs a bit of time to integrate properly and benefited from a long decant. Good QPR.
(GG Wine Tasting, 1 Glass) - was a tad disappointed by this, having tucked some away in the cellar. Sweeter than anticipated and less traditional than was expecting. Still tannic and earthy with black fruits. Judged with one small glass however, so still expect this to deliver. Needs much more time.

(2/3/20) A great bottle of wine from PnP that just got better in the glass, with powerful but well handled fruit, good acidity, very dusty tannins, excellent balance, and a lengthy finish. A thoroughly enjoyable young bordeaux; 13.5% abv. (***/15.5/91)

Bought and drunk in France. Popped, poured into a decanter for 20 minutes and served with steak. improved with time open throughout the meal. Obviously young and in need of more time in the decanter. Notes at 1 hour mark open: Nose of dark fruit and embers. palate is dark. tannic with lots of fruit behind a nice backbone. Decent length finish and lots of promise for cellaring for a decade at least. Paired well with the L'entrecote beef steak seasoned with pepper and salt. Would buy again.
Nice Smokey nose with plenty of plush black fruit. Quite suave and polished, but dry oak tannins poke though the back end of the finish and strong vanilla note dominates the finish. Just too much oak. May be better in time—but I seem to prefer other vintages better at same age.

It smells like vanilla, lead pencil, coffee, black currant, blackberry. It tastes like black currant (cassis) and also has a little bitter and some pencil shavings. The body is medium/full. The wine has polished texture. The finish is quite good with some more tannic material and a little less polished than the Waterford estate we drank side by side. This has a lot of merlot and only 30 % new oak. Deserves at least five years in the cellar to blossom. Right now it is young bordeaux. needs air and rich food. I really liked this for the price.
Bordeaux 2016 (Wine Cellar): This was a famous chateau in its past but then lay derelict until 1989. It was then replanted and improves year on year. As it takes 20 years to get to full maturity for the vines the quality is only kicking in now. 62% Merlot, 32% CS, 6% PV. The nose shows wonderful intensity almost opulent amount of fruit, cassia, blackcurrant, cassis, bay leaf, redcurrant. It has plenty of grip and pull on the palate, almost too much. ripe and with some sweetness to succour the solidity of the mid palate. Overall though quite showy on the nose but a little severe on the palate right now. Needs some time, and delivers given its price. Score will go up no doubt in the future.
Well worth the $25, and yes young, but the mouthfeel, and character other than dark fruit are available at this stage with a good amount of air-let breathe for 1 hour+ and have fun talking about what the future holds for this one

Another purchase from the 2016 Bordeaux release in Vancouver: On nose: deceptively open and seductive nose of vanilla oak, blackberries and bitter chocolate ... On palate: ....wham!....the classic St.Estephe tannins kick in....even after a 90 minute decant....however after another half hour, elements of cassis , iron ,pipe tobacco and a return a of sweeter blackberries are evident ....this wine will close up soon.....give it another 10 years....seriously. The striving junior partner of its St.Estephe colleagues , Cos and Montrose .....a fine wine in waiting! Tasted a 2000 Lilian Ladouys in half bottle at a restaurant in 2015.....beautiful , youthful and fully formed......this bottle has a great future .....possibly a 94 point wine.
Amazing. Agree this is tight, looking at the Grand Canyon through a pinhole, but what a view into the future. And so very hard to not revisit. Delicious.
Among the higher-end Bordeaux on offer at the Binny's tasting this St. Estephe presented as one of the more approachable wines from the left bank. Quite elegant, with a balance of tannins and ripe fruit with a promise of more to come. A very sporting price too.

Winemaker Notes The 2016 Château Lilian Ladouys reveals a very deep garnet red color, enhanced with beautiful violet hues. Its explosive nose exudes notes of crushed raspberry, cherry with brandy and bitter cocoa. These are backed with intense fl oral notes that recall a spring flowers bouquet, relieved by aromas of cedar and sandalwood. An ample attack, on the volume and the fat, brings towards a dense body, a powerful and velvety matter. The 2016vintage’s generosity is reminded in a perfect balance of freshness and delight. The cherry is very present, enhanced with notes of orange peel, chocolate and nutmeg. The long finish comes along with chalky tannins, particular to the Merlot’s great success on our asteriated limestone soils. Blend: 62% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot https://www.wine.com/product/chateau-lilian-ladouys-2016/202439

Way too tight and young...This is a substantial wine with allot of upside potential but right now, its just clenched up. Whiffs of vanilla cream, intermixed with tightly wound red fruit laying in a sea of gritty and chalky tannins. I would say this need 4 to 5 years to settle. Its be biggest LL I have encountered so far..In contrast, the 2015 is toothless and soft. HOLD

(8/13/19) This very young bottle was mostly about potential—it was all knees and elbows, with a seam of bitter alcohol in the finish. There were lots of good things in there—dark, concentrated fruits and vibrant acidity and tannins—but this was way out of balance and nowhere near ready; 13.5% abv. (**/14.5/86)

Smakt mars 2019. So here we go.
Second bottle tasted 2 months after the first one which left me big impression. A bit disappointed since the second one was a bit closed, more on the plum and restraint side. More simple though more difficult to read. Note reserved. Barrels deviation?

Deep ruby red. Pure nose of cassis jelly, expressive and appealing, white pepper. The palate confirms the nose with well handled oak ageing, hints of fresh quality oak perceptible at the end of the glass. Finely grained and ripe tannins are present from the attack and will perfectly melt with time. Slightly hollow on the mid-palate but this disappeared the second day. First half tasted after 2 hours of decantation, second half drunk from the bottle recorked. A good and seductive surprise.

Fresh, spicy cassis, licorice and blackberry have exploded all over the place in the best vintage yet for Lilian Ladouys. With textbook tannins, fresh fruit, length and lovability, the wine was made from a blend of 62% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot with 13.6% alcohol and a pH of 3.67.

Quite a smooth delivery, rather black and some brambly red fruit. Tannins are solid. So you are getting a solid expression of Saint Estephe, with that clay borne feel. You get your money's worth here. 87-89

Medium tannin and acidity. Well balanced. This drinks well now young, but I suspect the nose will develop more with time. Drink 2024-2040

Nice QPR.

PnP, drank over two evenings. A bit of unintegrated toasty oak in the first glass. Otherwise it was just fine. Medium bodied with red and black fruits. Steady, not compelling.

5 years ago I had 2010 vintage and I complained about weak smell. And this time the story repeat itself.
We have weak aromas of black currant, blackberry black cherry minerals. Not too bad, but without muscles. Elegant? Maybe...
Taste - smooth ( too smooth for me).
Texture - silky ( too silky for me)
Flavors - a lot of them ( too polished for me).
🕐⏰🕤
Second day of drinking - everything stays the same except tabacco that is all over the place both in smell and flavors. And it's strong!
I don't see, that tannins are weaker then yesterday.
My nice brought me spicy Hungarian salami and...I feel good with this pairing.

Its medium bodied full and spherical, plush coffee'd ironey black, blue and red fruits palate has lovely depth and freshness. Ends long, fresh and tapering with nice gripping tannin.

Drank from a half bottle for two days.
Cost me 16 EUR, full bottle price apparently around 24 EUR.
Overall, not bad at all but not worth the price.
Dark and powerful without being too massive or clumsy, void of any exaggeration. Masculine and self-confident; bone dry.
Problem is, while it's undeniably serious and respectable, there is little there that is actually fun. As banal as it sounds, it could be more tasty.
Difficult to rate - purists will surely rate it higher, for me it stops at 88+.

On nose: deceptively open and seductive nose of vanilla oak, blackberries and bitter chocolate ...

Among the higher-end Bordeaux on offer at the Binny's tasting this St. Estephe presented as one of the more approachable wines from the left bank. Quite elegant, with a balance of tannins and ripe fruit with a promise of more to come. A very sporting price too.

Winemaker Notes
The 2016 Château Lilian Ladouys reveals a very deep garnet red color, enhanced with beautiful violet hues.
Blend: 62% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot

Mørk blårød.
Duft av tre og lær. Mørk frukt. Plomme.
Fersk, frisk frukt på smak. Fast. Tydelige tanniner. Veldig god lengde. Tørr utgang.
Flott vin. God QPR. Trolig bedre om 5-10 år.
