The 07 Gibourg is pretty and feminine with red currants, strawberries, iron, herbs, and earth. With air, the fruit becomes more ethereal with a much ligther touch of iron and earth on the palate. The 07 Gibourg is excellent across the range. 92-93

Showing more dark soils than previous bottles, moving along the maturity curve. Certainly showing more NSG characteristics than previous experiences, a touch more sturdy and rustic.Tannins mostly softened, smidgen of oaks still lingering at finish. Bright acidity of the vintage with good complexity and long finish. Reached plateau and should continue to cruise along for a while.

Just beautiful. Nose abounds with Vosne spice. Palate shows Nuits a bit more, with some earthiness. Pure red fruit. All the trademark elegance of Mugneret-Gibourg. Transcends the vintage and the village. Could easily be mistaken for a Vosne premier cru from a moderate vintage. Structure is still present, but there's no need to wait on this. That said, I don't think there's a rush to drink up.

Immediately upon opening it's Vosne spices - cumin seed, anise, cardamom. Didn't decant, and it took over 2 hours on a flower night to fully harmonize and blossom. Never was it less than delicious, but was best a few hours in, when the wine's amazing purity, detail, and focus really shone. If anything, I'd say this particular wine in this vintage is underrated. There's no excess anything, and it's truly powerful and truly graceful at once.

Extensive Social Distancing Drink #17. Clean floral nose. Oh...this was open for business again, much better than previous bottle about one year ago. Soft and fine tannins. Good length and complexity for the vintage. Spices with a touch of oaks lingering at finish, just beautiful. Elegant interpretation of NSG. Fantastic for a lazy Sunday afternoon sip. This actually continued to improve, the last glass was the best, deserved an upgrade.

Lovely perfume with cherry fruit, florals, earth, and some Vosne like spice. This is more expressive than my last bottle a year or so ago. Mid weighted and a little bretty at first that blew off quickly. There is cooler fruit, rose, cherry fruit, cooler pinot fruit, with some basil and mossy notes, more florals and excellent inner mouth perfume. Finishes long and with cooling spice and herbal- basil notes. Quite long. NSG meets Vosne. Early peak and lovely.

On the nose, earth more than cherry and rose perfume to start. Mid weighted and with the acidity a bit sharp at first. On the palate more cherry and some cranberry, roses, some Vosne like spice and earth/ mossy undertones. With some air this fleshes out into more balance. Cooler herbal notes, like basil with inner mouth perfume. On the back end, there is some savoriness and it finishes lithe and long. Elegant and drinking at early peak.
Good freshness.

Pretty good nose, flowers, soils and coconut (really?) right after PnP. Elegant Nuits and good balance. Hardly any hint of alcohol at finish, now that’s my kind of wine. Tannins still hanging around but they are soft and approachable. No crime in opening a bottle but should continue to evolve, an overperforming ‘07 Burgundy. Bought a case in the secondary market for a song few years ago as people shy away from ‘07 vintage. So glad to be on the allocation list for this wine now.

Very nice. Standout fruit for the vintage. Should get better over the next 3-5 years as there is still some work to be done on the tannins, and enough substance behind to support it. Won't be the deepest Chaignots, but a relative success in '07.

Faint floral nose, not very expressive but clean. Sweet and smooth on the entry, still some tannins on mid-palate and long finish. Fairly big and dense for an '07 1er Cru. More dark fruits with mild spices. ABV 13% with no trace of alcohol, excellent balance. Approachable now but should continue to evolve and improve.

La Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin Dinner (Salt & Char Restaurant, Saratoga Springs, NY): [Opened at 4pm. Tasted at 5:45.] Big, smoky, black fruit nose. Gorgeous black cherries in the mouth. Really enjoyable now, but in no danger of fading. Dried black cherries and chocolate on a long finish. A little overpowered by the Braised Pork Belly, but really shines with the Coq au Vin. A vibrant, appealing wine.

Lots of charm and elegance, especially for a Nuits, but not surprising for an '07 or from M-G. Red fruited, develops a bit of spice. Maybe a bit of Vosne in Nuits clothes?

This is exceptional right now -- showing much better than 10 months ago (despite not having heeded my own "wait till 2017" guidance...). Maybe bottle variation, or maybe just a touch more time was all this needed. Exquisite balance. Has that "ethereal" aspect that one seeks in red Burgundy (or at least I do). Great fruit. One piece of continuity from the prior TN: this seems like more of a creature of the vintage than of the site. Either way, yum!

Definitely needs air at this point. Double-decanted, and improved greatly as the bottle opened over several hours. Dominated by tannins at first, then the fruit unfolds slowly. Very pretty wine throughout. Doesn't show NSG characteristics as much as it shows those of the vintage. Good stuff, but likely better 2017+.
extraordunary Burgundian terroir and spice that supports cranberry and mince notes. Long complex finish. Superb nose in the glass of the complexity in the wine itself. Just great. Tasted at cafe Boulud. NYC. New Year's Eve.

Wine was open three hours prior to drinking on Day 1.
Color was medium ruby red and clear. Fragrance on the nose was reserved but some very pretty and seductive fruit was showing through.
Taste Day 1: Light to medium body with great balance and red fruit. Boy can these ladies make a nice wine. The finish still has some tannins indicating this wine needs more bottle age. Not as silky as there chambolle 1st Cru but there is excellent pure fruit with a acid backbone on the finish. The more I taste this the more I realize it needs more time in my cellar to unwind. Elegance and grace in a bottle and very typical for the 2007 vintage as the purity really shins through. These are drinking better than the 2006 vintage but both are quite different stylistically. This wine reflects the lighter 2007 vintage style but you don't have to wait until 2022 to enjoy it. Just a few more years and the window will be fully open. Very nice and the Nuits character and chewiness does show but in a refined and pretty way. 91 points on day 1.
Day 2: The first thing I noticed is the floral nose is much more evident and enjoyable. Really enjoying the smell of this wine prior to drinking. The taste was similar to day 1 and there was very little improvement overall on the 2nd day. Perhaps somewhat smoother and rounder but the finish and Nuits character remain the same. I will probably try another bottle in 2016 and enjoy the remainder over the next 5-7 years. This is a elegant, pure and lovely version of Nuits St. Georges and a fine bottle to dink and enjoy. 91+

Knightsbridge Holiday Burgundy Sale (Northbrook, IL): Wow, what a pleasant surprise vs. the vast majority of 2007s from Nuits St. Georges. Very elegant spice coming through on moderate finish.

taste: fresher medium feel with good chewy tannins and medium+ acidity with tones of raspberries, dark red fruits, dark spices and bits of dark red cherries
overall: Has a bit of the freshness and forward quality that the 07 vintage has brought for burgundy. On the young side right now and could use a bit of time to sort itself out

(From a bottle provided by the Mugneret sisters during a visit to the Domaine) Bouquet of dark mixed berries and earth jump out from the glass. Focused palate, pretty tannins with nice length. Shama's Mugneret-Gibourg @ Medlar (The Medlar, London): Bright but quite dark red fruited. A little reduced on the nose and initially on the palate. A touch of smoke. Bright and fun butnot quite he depth and seriousness of some. ***1/2

Knightsbridge Holiday Burgundy Sale (Northbrook, IL): Wow, what a pleasant surprise vs. the vast majority of 2007s from Nuits St. Georges. Great spiceon nose with very accessible mostly red cherry fruit. Delicate flavors with very little of the coarse animale character of too many 2007 NSGs. Very elegant spice coming through on moderate finish.

Very pretty, pure, sour cherry fruit, the frgrance came and went, but it's deep and intriguing

Saxum vs The Field + Some New Copains...and then some (Frank Murray's Casa): Forward and sweetly fruited. This seemed to be in a more modern style though not really extracted or oaky.

Saxum Vs. The Field (2005 Vintage) + 2008 Copain Syrahs + Burgs (The Murray Casa): Delicious. With air, I found a rose petal note that infuses the aromatics. Great spice, sappy red berry with some sweetness. Doesn't possess the austerity and tart flavors but is more like a restrained CA pinot.

Knightsbridge's New Release Burgundy Tasting (Knightsbridge, Northbrook IL): nose: fairly tight with tones of dark red fruits, dark spices, bits of dark berries and a touch of dark red cherries. A bit more brooding than other 07s on the nose with good depth
taste: fresher medium feel with good chewy tannins and medium+ acidity with tones of raspberries, dark red fruits, dark spices and bits of dark red cherries
overall: Has a bit of the freshness and forward quality that the 07 vintage has brought for burgundy. On the young side right now and could use a bit of time to sort itself out

This was good - rich and full in body, more elegant than the Chevillon wines, more open on the nose, moderate length with touch of spice on the finish. Shows its proximity to Vosne, or maybe the feminine touch of its owners.

Another great nose. Licorice and herbs.
Really tart, fruity entry; tight.
In this field this wine shows like a fruit bomb.
Almost sweet feeling on the palate.
Enjoyable, good long finish.
Would be even better after a few years.

Barnyard and black cherry on the nose. An almost loamy quality to the earth. A hint of baking spices.
Cranberry and black pepper upfront. Firm, oaky tannins. A medium long finish of black cherry, oak and mineral.

(From a bottle provided by the Mugneret sisters during a visit to the Domaine) Bouquet of dark mixed berries and earth jump out from the glass. Focused palate, pretty tannins with nice length. Opened up after an hour of decanting. Like many 07's, very approachable now but will improve with a few years if you can keep your hands off it. Delicious.
