  • Heidi's Group: Memorable Wines (St. Genevieve, Mpls, MN): Light medium gold color. Drank a glass plus over 90 minutes. Great bonus bottle from Siggy, thanks! Lots of gunflint on the nose, reductive, dense, lemon, butter brickle. The palate is full bodied, deep, lemon, subtle peach, toffee, butter brickle, gunflint, Meyer lemon, tangerine, well layered and complex. Seemed like this tightened up over time. Very good.

  • Heidi's Gang monthly @ StG. SS,CV,KB,DD,LI & CS. Thanks for organizing Siggy! Siggy's 2nd contribution tonight. Well this offered a contrast in producer style alongside Candace's 18 Lafon Meursault CdB. Darker gold but not moxed. Still refined and elegant but much bolder than the Lafon. The concentration here was impressive and mouthcoatingly sappy. What a fun flight! I give the edge to the Lafon but this is utterly delicious & compelling too. A nice study in producer style & white Burgundy terroir. This was more Batard than Chassagne (in a good way) for me. Loved it! A very nice btl right now but wouldn't sit on these for more than a year or 2 more. Thanks Steve, so fun to taste this! Last time I had the Ramonet Chassagne Ruchottes was at least a decade ago.

  • All 3 2014 white burgs were effected by oak or something that gave them a reductive sweet taste which was unpleasant and I threw out the flight

  • White orchard fruit, citrus (incl. orange peel), rich and with a superlative length. No need to keep it any longer (the color is a profoundly yellow and there is a slight oxidation).

  • Nice medium gold with slight green reflections. On the nose upon opening, rather timid menthol/aniseed, white fruit, flowers. On the palate, the attack is frank, fruity, sweet-like, lifted with a good acidity, ethereal with a very very good length of the floral and fruit aromas with added minerality. Touch of oak and buttery popcorn as well.

A sip is like inhaling a light but wonderful perfume. This has a nice balance and ultimately, I prefer it to the heavier (but still excellent Morgeot) and to the (also excellent) more tensile and edgy Caillerets, all from the same producer and vintage. Just a wonderful balance!

No rush to drink. I will likely have my next one within three years in 2027 or so. 93
